  1. Pecan, by far.
  2. You didn't actually think there was a chance he would end up at Oakland, did you?
  3. We've got massive thread going on this already.
  4. Why? A few inches can make the difference between a foul ball and a double down the line. For that matter, a few inches can make the difference between a ball that's caught and a ball that rolls to the wall. In the playoffs this year, Tori Hunter's mistake in the field made the difference between a single and an inside-the-park homerun.
  5. That's obviously because he finally played a full season.
  6. are there actual rumors out about this or is it our wishful thinking? It's wishful thinking. I don't know why Cleveland should want any part of Izturis.
  7. More of Hendry overypaying for mediocrity. So much for Baker and MacPhail being responsible for Hendry's crappy acquisitions.
  8. I think his point was that Aramis didn't count against the Cobs' net signings either way. Even if they used up a Type A signing, the Cobs should have gained one when Aramis became a free agent in the first place.
  9. For real? You actually believe that's the reason for Alf's career year?
  10. as were the cards this year. it shouldnt take too much more to win the central in 2007. The Cobs need to aim for average and sign Jeff Weaver.
  11. It makes me happy. It just wouldn't be the same with Kerry sitting on some other teams DL.
  12. This outcome actually makes me very skeptical about the hometown discount reports.
  13. The Cobs should consider trying to rebuild like the Marlins.
  14. Unless Will Carroll was misinformed, Lee's injury was an injury to the actual wrist joint. It was a broken arm, which is not nearly as severe.
  15. I agree. People are being way too anal about that comparison and missing goony's very valid point because of it.
  16. Batting in front of Bonds sure didn't help Shea Hillenbrand or Steve Finley put up good OBP numbers this year. Meanwhile, Murton managed a pretty decent .365 OBP hitting primarily in the bottom half of the order in front of the likes of Ronny Cedeno. If protection does exist, it certainly doesn't seem to have a very pronounced effect. I'm sure the topic has been the subject of various anylises if you need more in depth proof.
  17. Yes, that. I was saying that it's irrelevant to Aramis' meaningful statistics that he had no protection.
  18. Protection isn't usually ever a factor.
  19. While pitching is unpredictable in general, Howry genuinely pitched well this season; it doesn't look like his success is especially BABIP driven or anything. Unless Howry is just an absolutely critical piece of major offseason deal, the Cobs should keep him. They definitely shouldn't get rid of him just to get rid of him.
  20. Lofton's had substantially better stats than Pierre these past two seasons. For that matter, so has Todd.
