  1. Patterson with another great day at the plate. He's pretty much ready to be the starting second baseman.
  2. EPat with another jack tonight, his ninth of the season. He's almost tied his AA + AAA total from last year.
  3. I hate to burst your bubble, but this poll has essentially the same number of votes as the other Monday polls. It looks like Deerwood is losing this of his own virtue.
  4. Why are you all rooting for Derwood? I wanna see an upset.
  5. Hopefully Pie becomes the starting CF.
  6. According to those, Murton has been alright in both outfield positions he's played. I would say that a lot of people calling him a bad defender simply lack the perspective necessary to make a realistic assessment of his defensive ability.
  7. What a completely idiotic post. Being a playoff contender does not hinge on a single corner OF spot.
  8. That's not Murton's fault, it's Hendry's.
  9. The throwing error was a relatively minor issue. If the ball doesn't get past him, it's not an issue at all. For that matter, it wouldn't really have been an issue if Zambrano hadn't totally sucked, either. It's certainly not justification for calling Barrett out right there in the dugout.
  10. Do we even know for sure that Barrett is the one that got crossed up on that ball?
  11. fixed You're right, I really should know better. I disagree with the notion that Murton is below average, though. I think Murton is more or less exactly average for a corner outfielder. Average is pretty valuable.
  12. Actually, I think that's completely justified in that situation. whole situation is avoided if barrett just mans up and takes it. Whole situation is avoided if Zambrano isn't a baby, or doesn't try and blame his team for the 13 hits and six earned runs.
  13. No, he doesn't. Not even close, really.
  14. Not if we have to watch Murton. Trade him while you can. He's a bad outfielder, no real speed and can't hit with men on. Pagan can fill his role and can play defense. But Pagan can't hit at all. And he's not an especially good defender, either.
  15. Considering his age and contract situation, Floyd is essentially disposible as far the Cobs are concerned. If this means Murton gets more playing time, then it's probably good news.
  16. Actually, I think that's completely justified in that situation.
  17. I couldn't take my eyes off it during the Sports Center replays.
  18. Damn the Man!
  19. I've seen three different angles multiple times each now. Barrett didn't charge Z in any meaningful sense of the word.
  20. It really looks like it's all Carlos to me. Barrett stepped toward Zambrano, but he didn't really seem all that aggressive to me. It certainly didn't look like Michael was going to take a swing or anything. Z should be suspended and fined.
  21. How would they do this? Lot of guys committed for a lot of money who aren't all that desirable on the market... He should start by calling Soriano names until Alfonso quits. Most of the other big contracts should be tradeable or perhaps even worth keeping around.
  22. Isn't DePodesta a special assistant in San Diego? Maybe he could be had.
  23. 26.75 million over five years, with a $10 million club option. Details here. Some with better contract knowledge might want to chime in, but it looks like the deal includes at least 2 free agent years. Seems like Swisher gave Oakland something of a hometown discount.
  24. Wouldn't be surprised? That's the lineup I'm expecting.
  25. Hey, now. He's gotta take care of the veterans.
