  1. finally striek three if novoa gets out of this i will love him!
  2. In play, out(s) recorded hopefully thats 1 out no runs :)
  3. its a good idea, but one dusty would never do unless murton "learns from the vets" :sigh:
  4. How can you not hit Dunn 3rd? He has almost as perfect a mix of OBP and Power as well...Lee (not not to that extent of course :P). Hairston Walker Dunn Lee Ramirez Burnitz Barrett Perez Of course dusty will surely fiddle with that lineup, and it will also shakeup when nomar gets back, but Dunn makes this team IMO, an offensive force(-baker that is). The bench also gets that much better with holla being the primary lefty bat so the bench looks like this: Cedeno Macias Gerut Hollandsworth Blanco Murton and when nomar gets back we can release macias (YAY!)
  5. to make a run like houston did, whoever is in the #1 and #2 holes need to be one of the best tandems in the league, that, and the middle of the order hitting like it has, maybe another bat, and a solidified bullpen (which i believe doesnt need outside help to get)
  6. There should be no reason why Lee doesnt win the wildcard if he keeps up even a modest pace this year. Also a triple crown should automatically = an MVP in most cases, but to lead the league in almost every important offensive stat, all while being one of, if not the best fielding 1B in the league, as well as the most important Infielder, IMO, in the game Also, with our wild card hopes gaining more life, i see no reason why they could throw the "non contending team" card out on the table any idiot who would pick pujols over lee, if the season ended today, should be taken to the guillotine, if there are any left :)
  7. what about two on the same team leading the league #1 and #2 respectively?
  8. For the team to win this wildcard without outside help would require -Walker and Hairston to get on base regularly -The middle of the order to keep hitting how they have been -Cedeno getting more atbats, or a Nomar Return before its too late, basically as little Perez as possible -The Pitching to get real hot, and i think past numbers will say they will (if healthy) -the bullpen to shape up, which i dont think it will without better managing, or another arm -and finally, either baker not being baker, or someone else on the bench calling the shots
  9. Heh, he did try to body slam Affedlt, but at the last minute, Affedlt just DDT'd him. What is DDT'd? Like if you watch WWF or WCW awhile ago, where Diamond Dallas Page just stuns him. omg im having flashbacks of watching WCW as a lil kid reminds how awesome bill goldberg is...err was, whats that man doin now?
  10. theyre bullpen and record in 1 run games might be a reason
  11. Not nearly as funny as the Paul Wilson squarrel Still shoulda kept him
  12. I loved this movie but i gotta ask whens the sequel featuring the southside called "This Old Sock" coming out? :)
  13. I agree with 22 in that I dont want to see our young talent dispersed in the national league, but rather to the american. Huff's value is at an all time low, but he draws some comparisons to barrett in ramirez, in that a change of scenery could help. This really is his worse year in his career, and IMO it is playing in Tampa, knowing that there is little to no chance of winning a playoff berth. IMO, this is the best deal the cubs can make at the deadline, push for baez in the deal as well to help the pen. A package of Dubois, Mitre, and another pitching prospect should get the deal done since both baez and huff are at/near the end of their contracts respectively and the rays cant afford to keep them both, and baez' 06 option wont be excercised anyway so there is no holding this deal back, other than a few prospect discussions, and Hendry's willingness to make this deal. I also think that Huff will be perform 150% better than he has ever performed in TB at the minimum. Huff usually performs better after the all star break posting a .327/.378/.566 line in the last 3 years Make it happen Jim
  14. Presently, there is no problem with the ownership, actually they have been increasing the payroll exponetianlly the last couple years, did anyone forget that. The problem is, at any given time the cubs look like they are going to be going through a transition, were they will have more than one losing season in a short period of time, the trib could be ready to cut payroll tremendously. The Trib is always first about profit, unlike an entity, Cuban will press as hard as possible to make this team a a winner, hopefully if this day does come, and he does become owner (which I am doubting) Hendry and Cuban have a good relationship, very different to the one cashman and steinbrenner share. We can not have an owner GM, Cuban's role would have to be one who will support every move the GM is willing to make, such as buying the required premium free agents, and not buying the guy Cuban's guy. All in all, i dont think this will happen, as the Trib has no reason to sell them right now, maybe in a flop market year for them, maybe.
  15. ..Corey Patterson turning it around and being substantially productive for us in the 2nd half? ...Dusty makes a good managing decision O_o? ...Cubs aquire a big bat? ...Cubs make the playoffs?
  16. lol i meant to have clayton starting at SS, not cintron
  17. Your post makes me wonder if a Zambrano+Hill+Walker package could net us Abreu and Utley. I would do that in a hearbeat
  18. i think we have a little bit more wiggle room than that hoops, a couple mistakes here or there, but nice work. IMO, burnett would be a solid sign for us this winter. Yes we have depth at the position, but you dont pass up and arm like him, especially for how incosistent our guys have been this year. We could also use a big bat at either SS, or OF. I dont like the FA crop, so i think wed have to go to the trade market, either this season, or during the offseason. Maybe land Dunn or Huff this season, maybe even a deal for Abreu during the offseason (highly unlikely, but theres been reports speculating him being traded for an arm) Garciaparra could also be signed back for a similar deal to this one (but for less guaranteed money) Giles is also a possible target, but only for the right deal. Heres how i see the cubs lineup next year projecting 2B Walker SS Garciaparra 1B Lee 3B Ramirez RF CF LF Dubois/Murton C Barrett SP1. Prior SP2. Zambrano SP3. Burnett SP4. Wood SP5. Maddux/Williams? (possibility Maddux is moved) RP Aardsma RP Wellemeyer RP Bartosh RP Weurtz RP Leicester CL Dempster C Blanco Util Hairston IF Perez IF Cedeno OF Dubois/Murton OF Grieve
  19. Im hoping more along the lines of Manager - Anyone not named Dusty CF Damon 2B Walker 1B Lee 3B Ramirez LF Hairston RF Murton C Barrett SS Cedeno Pitcher 1. Prior 2. Wood 3. Zambrano 4. Maddux 5. Williams Mitre Wuertz Novoa Williamson Dempster Wagner/BJ Ryan Blanco Perez Dubois ? ? ? tell me that is not out of reach...
  20. can you imagine that one of the most important moments in the franchise's history could of been 180 degree different had the foul ball not been hit to that particular area or prior had struck the batter out, or anything else not leading to that outcome fate sucks
  21. Of course bakers butt needs to be kicked out, but who can get this ship a sailin? also is hendry in the hot seat as well? and if so, is beane a possibility, obvioulsy he wouldnt mind working with 3x the payroll, but hes got that nice bit of ownership so yeah...
  22. I could go for this deal, but I dont like trading Walker, even if Soriano is posting better power numbers, we dont need another middle of the lineup hitter in Alfonso.
