    I have a much bigger problem with this than I do with the roids. I always thought the "armor" looked rather mechanical and less like padding, but didn't realize exactly how mechanical it was. I didn't read the entire article yet, but if what I did read is acurate (and I have no reason to doubt the author) this is a bigger problem than the roids IMO.

    He would have been thrown out if he had gone. You think? I don't know. I think he would have been able to make it. No. He froze and retreated to third. If he restarts on the throw, the SS throws home and nails him. If he holds and makes the SS commit to his throw to 2nd, he can go on the throw.

    He's excelling at the one area we need the most help in: hitting left handed pitching. He's be the ideal platoon guy with Floyd. He'd be cheap to aquire and would add little to the payroll. I think the added offense offests the PR issue he would create. All very true and I'd love to have Sosa back, not only for the production, but for the thought of having him back in a Cubs uni as they make a run at the WS. That being said, I have a hard time believing the Cubs brass will entertain the idea as it could wind up a PR disaster as well making them look foolish for the way he was unceremoniously disposed of. Heck, I'm not sure Sosa would want to come back. If I were him I probably wouldn't want to. I can only imagine the pounding he might take if he doesn't produce as expected.

    Just my .02: I don't know Bonds personally, just what I've seen of him through the media (we all know the media has a tendency for casting people in a certain light, for better or worse) and don't care if he's an a-hole of the highest order. Until he personally offends me, it has no real influence on me or my opinion of him one way or the other and thus I don't care if he breaks the record. As stated before it will possibly be broken by A-Rod (barring any major injury) or someone else anyway, so no big deal. While I certainly don't know any, I do feel bad for kids (adults, not so much) he may have personally upset. The major advantage I see to using steroids in baseball is improving longevity and to an almost irrelevant extent strength. Until they are shown to improve hand-eye coordination, all the indignation is kind of pointless IMO.

    i don't know why this bothers everyone. Unless he makes an error while doing it, what's the big deal? It's just stupid, that's all. I doubt it will ever happen, but if/when it does result in an error, watch out for those who don't care about it now. There will be hell to pay for Soriano, especially if it's in a crucial moment.
