  1. OK Jim, you've got nothing better to do right now, get on your phone and improve the frickin team!!
  2. Also hopefully this means a Ronny start tomorrow even though Neifi is one of the few players that Dusty feels can play 2 in one day.
  3. But game one is a lefty, and Hairston is suppose to get the lefty starts.....
  4. Jose Macias you strike out with the bases loaded 1 out against a guy with a 6.30 ERA, congratualtions that earns you a spot in the starting lineup batting 2nd!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. I'm calling it right now, Smoltz throws a perfect game.
  6. God I hope some reporter asks him what in the crap he is thinking, this is almost the worst possible lineup imaginable. I'm starting to wonder if he doesn't want to be fired, how can you expect succes against an all star with that turd of a lineup. woohooo 7 game loseing streak here we come.
  7. No, what you did is what I was looking, my Edit was a bad response to your original post (that you edited away). Catcher was the position I didn't really know about, is Reed a draft pick from this year or last?
  8. Yes, they've all reached their realistic ceilings. IMO injuries like Guzman's lower his realistic ceiling, but if you feel he can be a front line starter still go ahead and use him, same with Brownlie. EDIT Ummm, maybe I didn't think this through as much as you did  . Just go with a team of all prospects from each position that you think would make a good ML team.
  9. It's possible but I don't remember a line-up ever coming out this early. I doubt Lee plays today anyways, I'm sure even if he was day-to-day and he felt fine today he'll get to day off just to be on the safe side.
  10. Do you keep track of the A ball teams and how the players at that level are doing in anticipaton of the players that will be headed to AA in the not so distant future. And if so what are the players are you most looking forward to getting a first hand look at? As an aside please don't forget these two words when Brian Dopirak makes it to AA - "DOPE-SLAP". thanks
  11. Why did MILB.com have to call him icky? :o
  12. Ok, hopefully this will a fun little discussion. Your task is to construct a Cubs team of all prospects. When constructing the team assume that all prospects are at or around their maximum realistic ceiling. So it's not like make a team for 2008, it's pretty much just if you could take all the prospects and speed them all up to their ceilings what team would you field. You can be as in depth or vague as you like (i.e. an entire 25 man roster or just starting 9). Since I'm not as prospect savvy as a lot of people here, here is my stab at it. C- Soto 1B - Sing 2B - E. Patterson 3B - Moore SS - Cedeno LF - Murton CF - Pie RF - Harvey Bench of guys like: Fontenot Greenberg Theriot (probably work the platooning situation WT has) Pitching is kind of Crapshoot so i'll just name my favorite 5 and not try to figure out a bullpen Pawelek Hill Pinto Gallagher Nolasco Aardsma - Closer
  13. Is it possible that Dope kind of bought into his own hype, with jumping up all the prospect lists and is just trying to hard right now to crush every single ball for a moonshot?
  14. Isn't funny how Dusty only uses stats when it is a dumb idea to.
  15. About Dusty visiting here.... Do any of you actually think he gives a rats behind what we thing about him or the team?
  16. I don't know the guy, never met him, or even seem him play save for clips, but the person I'm most worried about is Ronny. He's one of the guys that I could honestly see having the big one right after they win. But I'm sure he'd have a smile on his face.
  17. And we have to live with him, you can just point and laugh
  18. HEY, HEY DOPE-SLAP Speaking of Dope, do pitchers fear his power, or does he have a good eye because it seems he's been getting a BB nearly ever game.
  19. Dusty's quote about putting the best possible team on the field, and than rarely doing it.
  20. Trade Lee with and I'm done with this team for life. Trade one of the few on the team that has a clue offensively. To contend next year there is no one that we can get that will match Lee, either at the plate or on Defense where he makes everyone around him better. Maybe next year if we fall out and have no intention of resigning him, but not this year.
  21. When looking at tonights line-up. The best option at catcher... wasn't playing the best option at first... wasnt' himself/than wasn't playing the best option at short... wasn't playing the best option at center... wasn't playing the best option at left... was playing, but isn't that good of an option On top of that a Greg Maddux who now adays either gives up a ton of runs or gives up just enought to keep you in the game. and you get the display we saw.
  22. Ummm, I'm pretty sure the best option of the bench would have been the back up SS, I think his name is Cedeno or something....
