  1. Connelly is an undersized, 25 year old AHL guy. No great loss. But how much does it hurt a player's confidence to be scratched in favor of John scott? Bickell looked as good as he has in a while. Morrison is old enough that his confidence shouldn't be that shakey. That said, your point is well taken: we are talking John Scott here.
  2. Sadly they probably couldn't have done too much more than they did last night and they still lost
  3. It's not that much money. And if he's any good he'll be a big trade bait. You don't think 9 mill a year is a lot for such an unproven commodity, particularly for the A's? There seems to be a good deal of reasonable debate about what numbers in Cuba translate to at the MLB level, no? Beane sort of his spent his nut (depending on how much revenue they derive from the yet unbuilt stadium) for the next couple of years, didn't he?
  4. I'm kind of surprised that Billy is willing to shell out that much for him. I guess he figures he's getting a very talented guy in his prime years who could outproduce the salary. I suppose if he averages 4-plus WAR over the course of the deal he will be a bargain?
  5. By nice, do you mean never going to happen or the biggest potential for disaster? Kane has a no movement clause and likes Chicago. Even if he was agreeable to a trade, who has the players they'd need to get back to make it worthwhile? Trading Kane = giving up on this season at least and probably the next 2. Bad as this streak has been they're not there yet. By nice, I mean I would like it if they were able to get rid of him and his contract and get some talent in return. I don't see how trading a 12 goal scorer gives up on the next three seasons. I generally agree that we shouldn't overreact to a bad stretch, but taking the long view, is a lazy, one-dimensional ex-goal scorer really necessary at $6M/year? I forgot about the no-movement clause though. If Kane goes anywhere it will be during the offseason. I also think some of this isn't his fault. He shouldn't be playing center, IMO.
  6. Law is probably part subject matter expert, part entertainer. He likely tailors his rankings and opinions to generate conversation. That said, I find his tweets amusing.
  7. 20 Thanks... Any thoughts? Too low?
  8. Is it really that good? Certainly pricey. I almost went there for brunch last weekend. It's outstanding. Mojitos and Pork Shoulder are glorious. There's a place near the corner of Western and Charlestown in Bucktown that it is pretty damn good as well.
  9. At what number does Law rank our system overall?
  10. I see your argument re Boston, but not Jersey. The team is awful and it's best player is rumored to want out, having been there less than one full season. Plus they will always be second fiddle to the Knicks in a way that is harder to make-up than the Lakers-Clippers dynamic. I don't see why the Nets have a harder time making up ground than the Clippers. The Clippers were synonymous with losing, and the Lakers are one of two legendary franchises in the NBA. The Knicks haven't won in a million years, and the Nets are going to at least be new to the area. The Nets without DWill still aren't in as pathetic a shape as the Knicks were before D'antoni went there. No offense intended here, but I think you really don't know the difference between a NY fan and an LA fan. It's a scene in LA; it's an allegiance and loyalty issue in NY.
  11. Boston's tradition is a definite draw - I get that argument.

  13. For S's and G's, let's rank the top ten NBA free agency destinations: 1) Miami (hard to argue with this given what went down two offseasons ago) 2) Los Angeles Lakers (who wouldn't want to see Dyan Cannon's stretched face and sickly body 41 nights a year?) 3) New York Knicks (Big Ego's; Big City; Big Championship Drought (40 years) = Chance To Be A Legend) 4) Los Angeles Clippers (Griffin, Paul, etc. Almost an overnight change.) 5) Chicago (for all the reasons stated above; without the cold we jump ahead of the Clips and maybe the Knicks as well) 6) Dallas (warm weather, great owner and facilities, good roster) 7) Oklahoma City (amazing roster full of incredible young talents; coach who lets you open things up; fans love it...yeah, its OK City, but the organization itself is pretty amazing) 8) Phoenix (sure the team sucks, but players seem to love living there) 9) Portland (rabid fan base, great cost of living, owner with unlimited resources, and history of attracting major talents) 10) Denver (exciting team, crazed fans, and room for improvement. Maybe one big piece away from legit title contention?) Honorable Mention: Boston (obviously great tradition in a huge market, but fans turn on you in a second and there's a documented history of racism) San Antonio (incredibly well-run organization in warm weather city, but roster is more than a little long in the tooth) Houston (warm weather and a fan base that will come out when the team is good) Atlanta (bad fans, but team is talented (if less so than other teams) and ownership spends money) New Jersey (promise of playing in Brooklyn and an owner who appears to be willing to spend and be creative)
  14. At this point, I'd overpay/overdraft for an impact player. It's the biggest need on the team. However, like I said before, I don't see TE as that impact position. Generally I'd agree, but it can be, depending on how you feature it in your offense.
  15. Rivals is saying that Michigan grabbed someone in the Top 250 who no one thought they were seriously in on...and then say I have to pay to find out who that is. Any idea who they are referring to? Very happy with The Blue's class so far. Linemen heavy, which is exactly what they need.
  16. This one is the closest I've seen with D-Rose's contract included. http://www.hoopsworld.com/chicago-bulls-team-salary Based on that you are - at a minimum - looking at Noah and one of Korver and Brewe, plus a 1st round pick or two (for Howard).
  17. Do we even have the cap flexibility we would need to acquire Howard AND sign him to an extension? I seriously doubt that Gar goes for him without one.
  18. I'd much rather watch the teams you guys are describing than the crap we have been putting on the field the last couple of seasons. I find the process very interesting and love the direction we are taking.
  19. I agree with Raw. We need two WR's, one draft pick and one vet. I'm starting to like Sanu from Rutgers, partly because I am starting to be intrigued by the idea of having bookend tackles by drafting Adams. Could we move down a few slots and still get both?
  20. I cannot support signing him until we establish what his name is and how it is pronounced.
  21. Having DH in both league could increase prospect value, inasmuch as all the teams will be interested in Vogelbach-type, rather than half worrying he would be a liability in the field.
  22. He's kind of cute, in a gross fat kid kind of way. Lol at Trammel smirking
  23. Are they still estranged? (Prince and his Dad, not Prince and Rock n' Jock)
