  1. Yes, please.
  2. Good points re their history offensively. My point was that I would take present-day ARam pover present-day Rolen due to the seriousness of that shoulder injury. Rolen's body of work is probably better than ARam's.
  3. No, but we regularly ask folks to suport their opinions with evidence here; I was mostly wondering why that was not necessary in this case. I thought it was a disingenious assertion. I did, twice! Look, I know this isn't worth continuing, but it is my opinion that you stated that you shouldn't have to b/c you live in NY. It ain't worth it, though. Bygones. Back on topic: I favor ARam over Rolen, Wright over ARam at this point b/c of ARam's nagging health issues. And ARod over them all.

  5. So would I. Is your memory infalable or something? No, but your memory of obscure articles re David Wright apparently is. What is this? Pick on CubinNY day? Now what are you talking about? The article was not obscure it was a spring training article on the Mets. IIRC, you have criticized posters in the past when they fail to support their positions with "hard evidence". I thought it was interesting that you were arguing that you shouldn't have to do so to please other posters.

  7. How did he manage in those postseason appearances? Since 1993, Dusty Baker has MORE Manager of the Year Awards than Bobby Cox. That kinda puts that award in perspective, doesn't it. I think he's pretty damn good, the players love to play for him and has an impressive track record. I hope he stays. I think many fans, and in this case many on this board, are far too critical of him. I am not a fan of firing a manager or making moves just for the sake of doing so. I agree to some extent. There are some of us who appear to have it in for him and are hypercrtical; I don't know why. On the other hand, the majority (not all) of the criticisim of his in-game decision making and relative preference for vets is legit, IMO. I am glad to see that he is starting to play younger guys this year.
  8. http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/images/covers/posters/190567.jpg Thank you, sir. May I please have another? http://www.ocweekly.com/images/ink/03/36/36sports3.jpg Niedermeyer!
  9. I would guess what the players have to say is far more important than the opinion of people on a message board. The players know who is a good manager and who is a bad manager. It really is no surprise why people who work in baseball have such a low regard for most message boards. I truly doubt that there ever has been decision made in baseball based on the opinions expressed on any message board. How do you know what people in baseball think about message boards? You can doubt all you want. However just to shine a little light on your dark, dark existence, at least one organization in baseball thinks enough of someone who posts on a message board that they hired him to work for them. His name is Voors Mckracken and he works for the Boston Red Sox. Be that as it may. I would think you are partially correct. It would seem to me that upper management would want a happy clubhouse. But winning trumps everything except for losing. The players can profess their undieng devotion to a manager but if he is a bad manager that won't save him. I am glad Lee likes Dusty, I am also glad that Lee signed an extension with the Cubs. In case you don't know, which I am almost sure you don't, Lee's ties to Dusty go way back well before Lee was even a prospect. Dusty knew Derrek when he was a teenager and his friends with his father Leon. Nice. Way not to make it personal.
  10. Murton has a couple of hits. Wrigley is still a wonderful place.
  11. Jones just left the game? Who's in RF?
  12. Austin - good for my NSBB fantasy team.
  13. Rusch has demotion / waivers written all over him. Now that we have given him a 2 yr contract, wha t(if any) are our options, other than trading him for a 99th round draft pick.
  14. I got into the game late and need to be sure I heard this correctly from Pat: Arroyo hit another freakin' HR off of Rusch?!!!
  15. almost? What's holding you back? Lose all my posts and I'm too lazy to change and think of a new name. if you pm tim he can just change your name and you won't lose posts Any idea on what to change the name too? You seem to have a thing for below avg., overweight, pitchers. How about "Jeromie's Homey", or "Garcas Lover".
  16. I hope that no one would proclaim that Dusty should be trusted based on less than a week of games. However, we shouldn't be "nitpicking" or digging around for things to criticize (such as throw away quotes) either. There has been some of that going on as well.
  17. Agreed. Someone please explain to me why I should worry enough about an unproven, injured minor league player when we have a top 5 major league first baseman in the prime of his career.
  18. Here here.
  19. That's a good point; just have to wait and see.
  20. Are you expecting him to produce the exact same for 4 years? It's not like they're predicting a Pat Burrellesque fall and rise. I'd be more skeptical of the projections if they had a player stay the same or straight rise/decline for the whole period of time. So you are saying the majority of ball players have projections that zig zag up and down during the prime of their careers? Forgive me if I am skeptical.
  21. Well Ramirez is sort of locked up, it's just a matter of whether he opts out or not after this year. I cant think of a better option at 3B. How much does he have left? "I want to be a Cub for the rest of my life." I think it would take a lot for Ramirez to opt out. Either a season so astronomically good that he knew for sure that he could get a lot more on the FA market, or major shakeups that he didn't like involving the Cubs. I highly doubt he opts out. you dont think he could get better than 2/22.5 as a free agent? Perhaps he values certain things more than an extra few million.
  22. this appears to be another reference i dont get im sorry much of the board doesnt like dusty because he's a terrible manager, please dont take your frustrations out on me. I'm a little shocked you of all posters on NSBB are upset about a sarcastic post directed your way. im not upset, im confused i suppose i AM upset if the implication is that i like napoleon dynamite, but since i dont, i dont really understand what he's saying. If I read it correctly, he was making a sarcastic comment re subject matters that you might better understand. While I don't agree with the method, I do agree with the message.
