  1. I am not down for giving up Gallagher for well, anything short of an ace. I'm pretty confident he's going to develop into a very solid pitcher. ~115 ERA+ consistently type solid I agree. To me, Gallagher projects as a solid 4th starter. Harden has no. 1 stuff but no. 3 reliability. Accordingly, dealing Gallagher and others for him makes little sense.
  2. Resting Lieber as much as possible is smart considering that we don't know where Z will be when he gets off the DL. Zambrano isn't du to pitch until July 4. I don't think that should have any bearing on using Lieber here. Lieber needs to get some work in so he isn't too rusty if we do need him. I phrased that badly - what I meant was that Liebs could be needed for much long relief without Z in the rotation and/or if Z has to stay on the DL beyond July 4th.
  3. B/c a 3 run dong puts us in save-land.

  5. Remember this statement if Dempster fades badly in August. Right, b/c it will be due to him pitching the ninth tonight.
  6. That would be awesome in light of what a bunch of classless jerks the Sox have been.
  7. Do you ever have anything to post other than digs at the Cubs, management, etc? no, which is why he hasn't been around much the past couple of months. not a lot to rip right now, what with the cubs having the best record in baseball. When they hoist the Series trophy, they will get all the props they deserve. Until then, the "best record in baseball" on June 21 means squat. "why he hasn't been around much the past couple of months"? not that it's any of your business, but my son learned to walk so my computer time is limited. Waaaay too many people take this way too seriously. Oh, I get it: When the team has a losing record on June 21st then it matters, but when they have the best record in all of baseball on the same date it means nothing. I hope you have some Air Jordans on, b/c you will need them to leap over that logical chasm. I'm not quite following your train of thought. Given the Cubs track record, do you put a lot of stock in having the best record in baseball in June? Awesome start, great job, win the World Series and it will actually mean something. Were you satisfied with last year's results? I mean, they did win the division. I guess I've forgotten all the past success this team has had. Pardon me for being cynical. I get it now - the Cubs haven't won a WS in 100 yrs, so no matter how good they are, how well they play, or what the stats actually say, you think they still suck. Who gives a crap how they played last season, 03', 98', 69', 45' or any other year? What does any of that have to do with the 2008 Cubs? "Awesome start, great job," I think I was commenting on their play right there. "I get it now - the Cubs haven't won a WS in 100 yrs, so no matter how good they are, how well they play, or what the stats actually say, you think they still suck." You do realize that you just typed that the Cubs haven't won a World Series in 100 years and you think that Cub fans should totally disregard that unprecedented track record of failure? No, right now they don't suck, but that sure as hell doesn't mean I'm going to proclaim them World Series champs. The fact that this team hasn't won in 100 yrs has nothing to do with this team. The fact they lost badly in the playoffs last year has nothing to do with this team. They can't be WS champs until, you know, the playoffs actually start. The truth is that you simply want to be negative about the Cubs, no matter how well they play. That's certainly your right, but when you post nitpicky crticisms based on your obvious bent you should expect the reaction you are getting.
  8. Who's basing HoF induction on it? Its one of many factors. When a player has almost 500 postseason AB's and performs well, it deserves consideration.

  11. Why not? He's a CF'er with a career line of .297 / .381 / .477 and 125 (OPS+). Plus he played very good defense at a difficult position and put up a career postseason line of .275 / .371 / .480 in 465 AB's . Had he not played in the Steroids Era and thus been buried behind the Bonds, McGwires, Boones, et al., you'd be whistling a different tune. oh i hate to sound like colin cowherd...but it's the hall of fame, not the hall of very good. i wouldn't lose sleep if he was inducted, but i dunno, he doesn't seem all that spectacular to me. when moises alou retires, do you think he should be in the hall of fame? No, but Alou is not a CF'er either. I think its not really an apples-to-apples comparison. I see your point, however.
  12. I think you guys know that I don't usually go here, but here's my response to AJ: http://z.about.com/d/politicalhumor/1/0/w/b/bush_finger_flip.jpg
  13. Bump NL leader in saves. Something like a 20 to 1 K to BB ratio.
  14. DAMN IT FEELS GOOD TO BE A GANGSTA'!!!
  15. Jim Edmonds hit two more HR's today. The only risk was not signing him, it looks like.
  16. "I BERRY DOSE [expletive]-A-ROW-CHEZ!!!
  17. I love you ARam. I love the fact that you are good for .300 and 30-plus ding-dongs every year. I love the fact that you told the media yesterday that you and Lee need to step it up to help the team. I love the fact that you delivered and then some: As I write this you hit two HR's against the Sox yesterday - including the most dramatic Cubs HR in some time - and have an RBI single and three-run-jack in today's second game. I love your steady play at 3B, which is deserving of far more recognition then it gets. I love the fact that you lost 20-plus lbs during the last offseason and are in the best shape of your career. I love the fact that you are maintaining a .400 OBP . I love the fact that you are slugging .500-plus. If I may be so bold, "Te amo muchísimo, Aramis".
  18. If he did that and helped us win the WS, I'd let him take one IN my car. the real question is would you let him take one on YOU? Yes, if he makes good on all of the above conditions plus gets a baseball for me signed by every single member of the 2008 Cubs, including all players and the coaching staff. Where do I sign?
