  1. If the choices are Ibanez, Abreu or Bradley, then give me Bradley. But I'd rather have Adam Dunn.
  2. That is an amazing haul for the M's. Great job by them.
  3. Yeah, this is pretty much best-case scenario good, likable team in a division with a hated (somewhat) rival Bingo. Cleveland was already my fave AL team, so it will be easy for me to root for them anyway. I'll miss you, Kerry, and will give you a "standing o" the next time I see you. Thanks for your loyal service. My son will continue to don your jersey with pride.
  4. Wow. 4 yrs for him at age 35? Bad call by Cashman, but I guess they can absorb the hit if he only gives them two good yrs. I thought they were steering away from this sort of thing after Pavano, Wright, etc.
  5. I am certain to be in the minority on this one, but I think that is a pretty good deal for the Mets.
  6. That would be so awesome - this place would explode.
  7. Responding to the title of this thread, what exactly do they agree with them about?
  8. the 17th greatest 2b of all time (at least in 2001), according to bill james. career warp3 of 94.2 according to BR. ron santo is the 6th-greatest 3rd baseman with a 112.8 warp3. that's why i'm not going to cooperstown anytime soon. Yeah, I have the book and know who he was. I should have written that in green.
  9. Maybe not until after the free agent pitchers get off the mkt though. If the Yanks get CC (likely) but no one else (i.e., Burnett and Lowe), I could see Cashman calling Hendry about Marquis.
  10. Who the [expletive] is Joe Gordon anyway? This is [expletive].
  11. This team is pretty mediocre - at best.
  12. Yeah, but also can be attributed to an incredible lack of pocket sense by what's his face on Alabama. I mean, don't just friggin stand there. The guy was running at you for five yards before he got there.
  13. So is the Zooker sincerly a bad coach. Turner Gill is a good head coach. He seems like the sort of guy you'd run through a wall for.
  14. That looked like a TD to me.
  15. Florida 30 Alabama 28 Oklahoma 45 Mizzou 20 USC A lot UCLA A little
  16. If I were a Cards fan I'd also be concerned that he is a 29 yr old MIF'er with a history of injuries. Those guys typically do not age well, and if you move him to any other position he's basically worthless. Just for fun, did Neifi or Macias ever put up a yr comparable to Greene's last season?
  17. I don't get this. It makes no sense. What the Yankees did makes me think there is some other data point out there that we don't know about.
  18. I know that i am a little late to this part of the party, but I don't think Lou's statement that "we don't need another starting pitcher" means that the Cubs aren't in the running for Peavy. I think it more likely is an attempt to gain leverage over the Pads in trade negotiations.
  19. Damn. Rose is the reason I care about the Bulls again.
  20. I think it was BBB who said it earlier, but what concerns me about Theriot is his ability to repeat last year's BA. His EqA in 08' was .264, just above league avg. That sounds about right in terms of his hitting.
  21. Wow, talk about gutting the farm system .. I heard an interview with Gary Hughes on XM yesterday. He said the Cubs are in all out win now mode. I guess they figure the new owner will give them the money they need to rebuild the farm down the road. They should be in that mode at all-times. No reason for a team with their resources to ever be in a re-building mode. They should be able to scout and draft well and make efficient use of salary on the ML level at the same time.
  22. I realize that this is not the end-all / be-all, but Teahan struck out over 130 times in just over 500 AB's last season, but walked only 30 or 40 times. Yuck.
  23. That fourth yr looks like Dempsters option, no? If so, that could be really ugly.
  24. Wow. I am surprised that Beane wants in on this one.
