One of my colleagues is a Pens fan. He mentioned that, at this time last year it was the Pens that were beating everybody and getting picked to win the cup. As a result, he's more philosophical about their recent "struggles". They're in the same boat as the Hawks in some ways. Their playoff position is more or less set. They are missing a star player and their secondary scoirng has dried up a little bit. For the Bruins to win the cup, they'll need to play as well as they are playing now for 3 staright months. That's hard to do if those months are in the Spring.
