    Can someone explain to me how the minor league phase of the Rule 5 draft works? I do understand the major league phase.

    The Cubs can't resign Burnitz until May 1st.

    The Cubs bench has alot of versatility & experience with: Blanco- back-up C Hairston- 2B, all 3 OF spots Mabry- RF,LF,1B,3B Neifi- 2B/SS My guess is that the Cubs may wait until the after the non-tender date & will add a another OF for the bench. Too bad Kelton's gone, he would have been a nice fit for the last bench spot.

    So who are you willing to give up? Zambrano or Prior? Don't know, don't know what either team wants for them so it's impossible to gauge. I'll let Hendry handle that aspect. :) Reports(ESPN) had the Phillies asking for Prior in return for Abreu

    They are not any closer to competing in that div. than the Fish are. Hill, Williams, Cedeno and a Single A prospect for Miggy and a bit of cash, please. There will plenty of teams that would be willing to offer more. Everyone needs starting pitching. Not everyone needs a shortstop. Which teams will offer more? Mets: Reyes,Benson,Diaz Blue Jays: Batista,Lilly,Hudson,A.Hill Angels: Lackey,Cabrera,Shields Diamindbacks: Vazquez,Aquino,Tracy Padres: Green,Eaton,Roberts Red Sox: Manny,Arroyo

    My guess is the O's would begin asking for a frontline starter. The O's are desperate for pitching, just like the Abreu situation in Philly. I think it would take either Z or Prior to make a deal with the O's for Miguel.

    $18/2 + Guzman + Pie + Sing I exaggerate, but Hendry has been giving up the mint for guys this fall...I worry what AZ would walk away with from us.......I would rather it was just $$$$ Is Sing back in the Cubs system? They left him unprotected.

    The reason he was DA'd was the signing of Howry. That makes the team better. *I hope* :D Of course, and he should. I just think Macias was the least of the Cubs problems the last couple of years. He got a lot of heat from people on here, but he was hardly the problem. Thats all. Corey Patterson was, by far, more of a problem for the Cubs LY than was Macias. If you read this board you would have never known that. Macias took more heat on this board, b/c he is "funny looking", not b/c he was a below avg. major league player. Just for clarification, I agree with the move to DFA Macias.

    Not necessarily. I wouldn't rule out Jerry Hairston yet as the everyday 2B if Walker is dealt. I would rule that out. Dusty playing Hairston over Neifi. There is no freakin' way. Maybe Hairston can start at second if Neifi is at SS. Yay. Hairston will be the Cubs 4th or 5th OF.

    Bradley is rumored to be non-tendered on Dec. 20th. Some teams may be waiting until then.

    That's not near enough! One of Prior or Z will have to go if you want B.Abreu.
