  1. Penn State can rebound, but they can't shoot foul shots, so Wiscy just needs to "hack-a-shaq" them and they'll win Unless the Badgers are down towards the end of the game, they just don't foul. They are very sound fundamentally, don't reach, and move their feet. They play great man to man, position defense. is the game on ESPN or BTN? I know it has a weird 9pm local start, which indicates it's probably a TV game btn

  3. Wisconsin v. Penn St. tonight - should be a good test for the Badgers. Cornley and Claxton a formiddable duo, and they now have some players around them. Badgers will have to take advantage of their height and pound the ball down low.
  4. Yeah, I wouldn't take that bet. Illinois is the only Big Ten team to beat Wisconsin at the Kohl Center since Bo Ryan took over. Most likely it will be a slower paced game and with how the Badgers have shot free throws this year I would imagine this game might end up being closer than you think.
  5. Wisconsin/Illinois in HD on ESPN tonight - I'll be sitting right behind Mushberger and Lavin. Badgers favored by 10.5 Go Badgers
  6. So, no minor league manager should have any career aspirations? I wouldn't want my youngster's around someone who at least doesn't have some motivation. Sure you need to develop the talent but you also have to be about winning. What do you want? A little league type coach who makes sure everyone gets in the game and gets some playing time. This is professional sports not 10 and under.
  7. The types of drugs they are using are a controlled substance and unless taken under the care of a physician are illegal. It is not just the fact that they are bad for your body. These people broke the law, if you committ the crime you should have to do the time.
  8. =D> I'm not on the 'roids. I'm just pointing out what is pretty easily possible, based on my own experience. I keep records and spreadsheets of my progress in weight, body fat %, # of reps, weight lifted, and strength gain because I'm just that way. I like to be able to quantify things. You're so vain. I guess you think this song is about you. You're so vain.
  9. "Butt boy"? I can't stand Steve Philips. Maybe a poor choice of words, sorry if I offended anyone.
  10. Baloney. I work 10-11 hours a day at my desk with an additional 1 hour commute each day. I find time to go to the gym 3 times a week. It means I don't get home until after 9:30 PM those days, but I still do it. How much bigger has your head size gotten? Did you suddenly develop adult acne?
  11. This stuff has been going on for long before the "steroid era". A friend of mine who grew up in the Bay Area was a clubhouse boy for the A's in the 70's, along with MC Hammer, said they were frequently sent on errands to pick up all sorts of illegal substances for players. In the 70's it was pot and hallucinigenics, the 80's was coke, and the 90's ushered in the steroid era. I gall's me that Selig and that butt boy Steve Philips can sit there and say they suspected that things were going on but had no idea how pervasive the problem is. What a joke!!!
  12. Are you surprised? What kind of questions do you think they are going to talk about on sports talk radio?
  13. Who says they took the big 'bulk up your muscles' style steroids? Don't runners sometimes take roids to make themselves be able to grow leg muscle and run faster? They never bulk up too big. Again - I could be wrong. But it seems to me that the assumption that Roids = Big Bulky Superhuman Athlete is kinda silly. Anabolic steroids just help your muscles recover more quickly allowing someone to work out harder without breaking down. The ability to work out more often without breaking down muscle mass is what allows athletes to build mass, endurance, or whatever else. They type of training you are doing is going to determine whether you bulk up (weight training), increase stamina or endurance (cardio-vascular), etc....
  14. Since the player's union, for the most part, refused to cooperate with the investigation, Mitchell and his staff did not have subpoena power, and most of this stuff occurred before MLB banned said substances even though they were illegal. Very few of those named in this report will serve suspensions. They will be punished in the court of public opinion, and for those still playing I have no doubt it will be used against them when negotiating there next contracts.
  15. Nomar's name came out too.
  16. Mitchell's report exposes a "serious drug culture within baseball, from top to bottom," fingers MVPs and All-Stars and calls for beefed-up testing by an outside agency to clean up the game, The Associated Press learned. This kind of pisses me off. People try to act like baseball is the only sport that has a steroid problem. I'd like to see a steroid probe of the NFL. So, because the NFL also has a steroid problem that makes it not as bad for baseball? That is the problem with our society today, there is no accountability. Even if steroids, or HGH weren't banned by baseball, they certainly were a controlled substance in the U.S., so unless you were taking them under a doctor's supervision I think all these guys are getting off easy.
  17. I don't think so. If anything steroids should have given Kerry a more athletic body in the past. Not the slightly portly one he had. Basically, I think the steroids were just cheating on his conditioning. Something snapped in him in the offseason prior to this year and he actually did it naturally. Doing twice as well because actually working out and watching what you eat worked better than roids and sitting on your butt. All speculation of course. The roids just help your body recover faster, they don't in and of themselves make you bigger. That is why a lot of pitchers will probably be on this list.
  18. I think it would be safe to assume that this thing has probably not been handled very well by both sides. I believe that there was the belief, by management, that Prior was not really injured and should have tried to tough things out. I also believe Prior has wanted out of Chicago for the last 2-3 years. I don't think his father has helped matters out very much either.
  19. I watch about, 60-80 Jays games a year, he won't ever be healthy. Therefore; I want Burnett about as much as I want Gonorrhea. How do you feel about cirrhosis of the liver with jaundice? Nice. Seinfeld reference right?
  20. Gotta tap into a great football mind when you get the chance. Per Wikipedia "As of 2007, he is the quarterback coach and golf head coach for West Texas A&M University.[1]" West Texas' season must be over. Maybe he is auditioning for a new job. Update: Looks like they won their conference for the third year in a row and start their playoffs. Leaf's pupil threw for 3200 yards and 33 TD's this year.
  21. Wisconsin Badgers Picked 3rd or 4th in the Big Ten. Probable Starters: Brian Butch Joe Krabbenhoft Marcus Landry Jason Bohanon Trevon Hughes also return several other bench players. Key losses include: Alando Tucker (graduation) Kammron Taylor (graduation) Michael Flowers (undisclosed medical reasons, no timetable on his return) Badgers look to be thin at guard but Bo is pretty good at mixing and matching his lineups. System based offense so that even though a majority of there scoring is gone the system is effective and the Badgers have just been able to plug guys in and keep the ball rolling. Won't win 30 games like they did last year but will probably be a better balanced team. Might surprise in the Big Ten but will probably finish right around where they are picked, and will be a middle (7-8) seed in the tourney. Coach Ryan and his rendition of Soulja Boy:
  22. Huh?
  23. understand...and agree. For instance, two players at Texas, Sergio Kindle and Henry Melton, were charged with DWI. Is a three game suspension enough punishment for that type of offense? ..probably not. Last season, Auburn linebacker, Trey Blackmon, was arrested for underage drinking. Tuberville suspended him for four games. To me, drinking and driving is a much more severe offense than underage drinking. What prevents the NCAA from setting some type of standard in these scenarios instead of deferring to the respective head coaches? I suppose they (NCAA) would hope to let the coaches or AD's or Presidents take charge but God forbid they do because they'd be jumped on like a dog in heat. Also, a lot of the punishments depend on how big of an impact player they are or who they are playing in the future. You bet a DWI is worse than underage drinking. Brett Bielema threw his starting defensive end off of the team for talking back to him. Although I think that is just the straw that broke the camel's back as there had been problems in the past with academics with the same player.
  24. Please just salvage one game out of this series, take two of three from the Griffeyless/Dunnless Reds and who cares what the Brewers do. Although it was funny to see Ned Yost get thrown out of his 3rd game in 4 days last night.
  25. I think there would be a hell of a lot more laughing at Wisconsin if that happened. doubtful considering nobody cares about Wisconsin around here I do. I'll be at the game. If Iowa wins it really wouldn't be that big of an upset. Iowa defense looks very good thus far and Wisconsin has been less than stellar in all 3 of their victories. This is a rivalry game and anything can happen. If I was a betting man I would probably take Iowa and the points.
