  1. Anyone else just hear the lineup? I believe it was as follows: Hairston 2b Patterson cf Lee 1b Ramirez 3b Dubois lf Barrett c Cedeno ss Macias rf Maddux p
  2. I am not to sure about Baez, he kinda reminds me of an Antonio Alfonseca type. Little too high of a WHIP for an elite closer/setup man. He walks way too many guys, not sure how he can stand up to the pressure of playing in a pennant/wildcard race.
  3. I can definitely see giving Barrett some extra days off, gotta be tough putting all that equipment on with 90+ temperatures and high humidity for the last week and a half.
  4. While I agree Maddux is overpaid, The Cubs are still in the race. Prior and Wood are both on the DL and we have seen what Koronka can do. If you want to limit Maddux innings and skp some of his starts, who in the heck are you going to have pitch? Wood and Prior are still big "ifs" there is no guarantee they will stay healthy. Financially you may want to rid yourself of Maddux but from a baseball perspective, at least while you are still in the race, you have no other options.
  5. Yeah I think I would dump Macias and keep Perez as your back up middle infielder, although, with the year he is having someone may offer him a starting job somewhere and he may become too expensive. I would also either move Rusch into the starting rotation or fill the need from within the organization. If Dempster has a solid rest of the year I would consider resigning him. I guess a lot of things are going to be determined by how the bidding for Wagner goes and how well some of these guys finish the season out.
  6. Hypothetically speaking - Maddux, over the last few years has been a much better pitcher in the second half of seasons. Let's say Maddux ends up going 16-8 with an ERA of 3.5 (those are about his averages over the last three years) Would he be worth the 9 million he is scheduled to make next year? In my opinion, yes. I know everyone is saying Maddux is our #4 or #5 starter, but those numbers are better than a #4 or #5 starter, so even though he is slotted there in the Cubs rotation I still feel he would be a legit 2 or 3 on other teams.
  7. Beane didn't write Moneyball. It is about his philosophy, but he didn't write it. Michael Lewis wrote it.
  8. And now possibly this year too. (Getting down on my knees to pray it is nothing serious)
  9. I remember when $30 would get you box seats...Oh how 1996 is sooooo far away in the past! I remember when bleacher seats were like $4 each, and that is only going back to the early 80's pre'84.
  10. I got extremely lucky a couple of years ago, I used to call in and wait online to get tickets, but then a sales rep I worked with has a group of buddies that go in on three different sets of season tix and they were looking for another person to purchase part of the season tix. I usually get about ten sets of tix every summer, and even got two of the Yankee games when they were in town. Although I live 2.5 hours away it is so worth it.
