  1. Has any Cubs pitcher besides Maddux hit a HR this year?
  2. Two out rallys... that's what I like to see.
  3. Did Wood try to bunt with two outs? Did he plan on beating out the throw? I know he's got wheels, but come on...
  4. Who'd have thought Neifi would be the one to get that run in
  5. He's the pitching equivelant of Corey Patterson *ducks* (only kidding...) no he isn't he's white. No way will Chicago turn on him like it has our players the past 4 years. Hundley might have gotten the worst treatment of anybody. Fassero got it pretty bad too if I remember correctly
  6. It's blowing in from center at 10 mph, just like yesterday. Thanks
  7. Is the wind blowing in or out today? Sorry, this might have been stated already, but I jsut got here.
  8. As a lifelong Cubs fan, there is no possible way I could find myself rooting for the Cardinals in a world series. I wouldn't like it, but I'd have to root for the White Sox. I don't hate the Sox (just their jacka-- fans). I absolutely loathe the Cardinals. I mean loathe. This is a hate that will be with me long after I die.
  9. No. Possibly in September, but that's it. He's 20 years old, the Cubs need to learn from their Patterson related mistakes.
  10. Either that, or it's going to be a slugfest, and we'll both be wrong.
  11. You never know. I would agree with you that Clemens has the tougher task. With the Stros this weekend and the Cubs next weekend, we're getting ready to see some awesome pitching matchups! Agreed. What's the pitching match up for tomorrow's game? Clemens is always up to the task, but Carpenter is having an incredible year. If I were to guess, there won't be more than 4 or 5 runs scored in this game.
  12. That's one hell of a pitching match up. But the X factor is that the Cards have a MUCH tougher line up. Clemens is going to have to be on top of his game, cause I don't forsee the Stros line up doing much damage against Carp.
  13. The homer was Corey's only hit.. That's good news. Am I the only one that thinks Jason is just more comfortable in AAA? He's going to be a great big leaguer one day, but he seems to struggle under pressure up in the bigs. He thrives on it down in the minors.
  14. I don't think Cuban is the answer to the Cubs needs (smarter spending is), but I like the fire he'd bring with him. He's one owner who genuinely wants to win. He's not as concerned about profits as the Tribune company might be (just my opinion). But he's even said that he's a fan first, and that's how he runs his teams. Call me nuts, but I believe that's the way it should be done.
  15. I was thinking the same thing. It means we have the right answers according to MLB.com, but the wrong answers according to reality.
  16. For those who think Ozzie is more deserving of the hall of fame: I know they were different types of hitters, but a few back flips shouldn't get you into the hall of fame. Ozzie's numbers are really not that impressive. He was a great defensive player, but Gracie was no slouch in that department either. Ozzie's steals are nice, but that still doesn't make up for the career .262 average. Grace - 2,445 hits - 173 HR - 1,146 RBI's - 70 SB - .303 avg - .383 obp - .442 slg Smith - 2,460 hits - 28 HR - 793 RBI's - 580 SB - .262 avg - .337 obp - .328 slg Keep in mind that Ozzie played 3 more years as well. My argument is that if Ozzie can get in, Grace belongs in as well. I know Palmeiro turned out to be a great player, but I was quite happy with our consistent Mark Grace. You can't feel too bad about a guy who put up decent numbers every year, and did his job day in and day out. And I've heard the Sandberg's wife rumor too. So someone had to go before they ended up killing each other. Who'd have guessed they'd both be hall of famers though.
  17. They've made the playoffs pretty frequently. That's more than can be said about the Tribune Company. I like Mark Cuban, but I wouldn't want to see him running the show here. He'd turn Wrigley into a circus. It would lose all it's tradition.
  18. <-------------------- Playing the cowbell.
  19. Probably getting work. But with 18 straight games coming up I think he'll have plenty of chances to get work in. That's why I was confused. We have some games against softer teams coming up. Dempster might be used quite often if things go our way.
  20. 9th inning, lets nail this one down and chalk it up in the standings.
  21. Gamecast says Dempster is up in the pen. Do we need our closer on a day like today? Or is Dusty just trying to get him some work after the ASB?
  22. I didn't think being desginated for assignment was being sent down. Isn't being sent down being sent down to the minor leagues? :? Nevermind, read it wrong.
  23. Mark Prior 8.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 3BB, 10 K, (115 Pitches :!: ) Not bad at all. I wish the pitch count would've been about 105, but hey, nothing we can do now. Take a seat Mark, you've earned it.
  24. Lotta "veterans" being sent down lately. Bret Boone, CPatt, Leiter...
