  1. Agreed. The only thing that would be more epic (for me at least) is a Cubs/Cardinals NLCS I know I picked the Packers to win the Super bowl I'm having a hard time seeing them get by Atlanta. Atlanta is a legit very, very good team and it will be tough beating them down there. I don't know if the Bears vs Packers NFC title game will happen. We hung with them earlier this year down there. It'll be a tough game for sure, but I think the Packers may be able to squeak one out. They can't get dumb with penalties, however, and they have to play to the best of their abilities. None of their key guys can have an "off" game.
  2. I'm conflicted. If we get past Atlanta, part of me wants Seattle to win, because they're obviously the weaker team. But then there's a part of me that wants the Bears to win so we can clinch a Super Bowl berth on enemy territory. Oh, how sweet it would be.
  3. Yes you can. You absolutely can. With replay, the call would have been reversed and the correct outcome would have happened. It baffles me how people could be against something that could guarantee the correct outcome on the field.
  4. I think Hendry has officially worn out his "At least he's good at making trades" defense. There is no reason at all, NONE, that this man should be making any sort of personnel decisions for any team anywhere. He may not be "historically bad" as someone upthread said, but you can't sit there and honestly tell me he's not bottom 5 today.
  5. I've gone on record saying I've wanted Garza, but only if the price wasn't too high. Not only is the price too high, I think the Tampa GM ought to be arrested and put in jail for rape.
  6. I just heard who the OF was coming our way. Cripes, that dude stinks. Why is he even in baseball? You really couldn't have wrangled someone with any sort of ceiling whatsoever, Jim? Really?
  7. I saw the thread title and nearly Schlit myself. .....sorry :(
  8. I want to know the two yahoos who voted for BJ Surhoff.
  9. Yeah. What's up with that? Punishment for being a cokehead in the 80's?
  10. I agree. If I were him I'd be pissed.
  11. Notable snubs: Larkin 62.1, Bagwell 41.7, Jack Morris 53.5, Lee Smith 45.3, Raines 37.5. McGwire 20 Palmeiro 11
  12. I'd be interested in seeing the voting percentages when they come out to see how close Bags and Larkin were.
  13. They already did. "Stand Pat" Gillick was elected. The Veterans Committee now votes on a three-year cycle, and this time it was the expansion era's turn. Santo will be eligible again next time. Ah yes, I remember The Boss got snubbed. Blyleven and Alomar are your 2011 class.
  14. Those two and Bagwell, IMO. When does the Vet committee pick?
  15. Garza added to the list of Brian Roberts and Jake Peavy.
  16. That feels like a lot. It does, but if you're going to deal 4 guys from different ranges of the Top 20, that's not a bad list to give up. Agreed. Guyer is talented but I'm not sure the Cubs would ever give him a serious look in the OF with Soriano locked in for the next 4 years and both Jackson and Colvin ahead of him. Chirinos is just a backup for the Cubs because of Soto. Lee's future value to the team is hurt a lot by Castro being at SS. And Carpenter is just another high risk medium upside type of pitcher. This would be an example of both teams winning. Tampa gets a lot of talent but the Cubs get a player who fits better on their roster and they also trade a couple risky players while their trade value may be at its highest. Maybe it's just me, but I'd like to hang on to Lee if at all possible.
  17. My guess is they would both serve their time in the countries where they live, and where the crimes occured. BUT THEY'RE BOTH BASEBALL PLAYERS THAT COMMITTED VIOLENT CRIMES. Correct.
  18. Maybe he can share a cell with Ugeth Urbina.
  19. Nope. If we lose, it'll at least be close. Vick scares the crap out of me, but I think we can hang with them otherwise. The Packers are dangerous, and this is the deepest NFC playoff pool (West winner excluded) I can remember in a long time. If we do lose, then just build for next year and hope the injury bug doesn't bite so hard. The thing I think I'm most pleased with this year is just how deep this team turned out to be. Get the regular starters back next year and keep them healthy and look out.
  20. I don't understand the playcalling by the Badgers for most of that game. They established the run early, then for a lot of the 2nd quarter they were almost exclusively pass. Then on their final drive they run almost the entire length of the field, only to go for the pass (which they really didn't establish all game long) on the 2 pt conversion? That's some Dusty Baker level logic right there. I'd be interested in hearing what Brett has to say in the post game press conference.
  21. I'm going to take the unpopular opinion (SHOCKING!) and say that I don't really hate Stone as an analyst. My first choice would be Keith Moreland, but I'd take Stone if you can't get Moreland here.
  22. Esophageal cancer, to be exact. I lost an older brother to this very disease in 1999. It was heartbreaking. Best wishes to Harmon and his family during this time. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=5969976
