  1. WHO STARTED THIS THREAD I WAS ABSOLUTELY NOT MENTIONING IT TO ANYONE MY SISTER AND I WERE EXCHANGING GLANCES : ( IT WAS ESPN!!!! They cut to "special coverage" The first batter they showed was soriano....... It was like 2 pitches into the AB that Soriano got the hit, and then they went to the Palmerio AB and he grounded out. ESPN was 0-2 in the span of about 2 minutes.
  2. I almost forgot about his little hissy fit. But, I dont know who else i really would want on that team. Outside of cano. (and arod, but i'm talking realistically) Id take Giambi(with them eating lots of payroll of course) in a heartbeat, but we have nowhere to play him. He was horrible in the OF. Yech. No thanks on Giambi. Off the juice he's not the same hitter he once was.
  3. Gary Sheffield can kiss my ample posterior. He's a cancer.
  4. One million. He makes 7.67 mil this year, 8.67 next year. Well, then we have 3 million so far (just that I can think of. I know there's more) that we can play with from Remmy's contract. And Lee is worth every penny. Haha.
  5. I can live with that scenario. However, OF needs to be addressed regardless of what happens with SS. Holly/Dubois, Patterson, Burnitz was blatant negligence going into this season. They have to find an impact bat out there, somewhere, even if they do bring Nomar back. Sorry. I actually meant upgrade OF MORE. Maybe go out and get a couple corner OFs instead of just 1 and go with Cedeno at SS. We should have some wiggle room with Sammy's contract off the books for next year. Forgot about that. But raises will go to Wood, Maddux, Prior, Z, Lee, Ramirez, Barrett, and possibly Patterson next year to basically wipe out that amount. The Cubs do have the potential to go league minimum at SS, CF, or LF next year. How much of a raise is Lee getting? And we can have Murton in left, and Cedeno somewhere (hopefully on the bench, not that I don't like him, but I want to hang on to Nomar and Walker). Will Remmy be off the books? There's another 4 million right there.

  7. Bunch of damned losers. "Oh, we won 4 in a row and beat the Pirates." Whoopie ding. It's called beating the teams you ought to beat, idiots.
  8. I'd say $4 million base with incentives for reaching certain PA milestones. Perhaps $1 million per every 100? That would mean if he's healthy for a whole year, he gets paid $10 million. That isn't too bad for a player like Nomar (when healthy).
  9. I've actually been thinking about this same idea lately -- Nomar at 2B might give you great production and stay healthy. The only problem is you still need a backup SS -- so say hello to a full year of Neifi starting and Cedeno rotting. My real hope in the above scenario, is Furcal signed to play SS and leadoff, Nomar shifted over to 2B, and Cedeno used to backup both. That said, I can't believe Nomar would it (except for massive Yankee cash). I dont know about him moving to 2nd. I'd rather hang on to Walker, because if Nomar goes down again, like someone said, then you have another Enrique Wilson situation. He didn't hurt himself this year in the field, he hurt himself at bat. I think he can still handle short.
  10. If Bowden really twisted our arms, I'd even part with Macias.
  11. 2Pac isn't dead. He's living in a trailer outside Las Vegas with Elvis and Andy Kaufman.
  12. CT, unless I am more out of touch than I think, your Avatar is no longer Tupac. This is true, but do you know what his avatar is from? "Dance everybody, dance!" The same place my former "my spoon is too big" sig guy came from.
  13. It would be awesome if the Cubs started generating some serious fear in the rest of the National League. I can't wait till this team finally reaches its potential. No, IF. It's always IF.
  14. Well, looks to see they filled Wilson's spot pretty fast.
  15. As much as I love Abreu as a player, and I respect the hell out of his abilities, I wouldn't trade Z for him, simply because of the age. Z is 24. He has 10 years (give or take 2 or 3 either way) before his skills start to decline. He can be a very, very good pitcher for those 10 years, hopefully all of them in a Cub uniform. Abreu is 31. His decline is possibly coming in 4 years, maybe less. I don't know if 4 years of Abreu is worth potentially 10 or more of Zambrano.
  16. Yes.... against Cub pitching. And Jeff Blauser was a career .380 hitter at Wrigley, remember that argument? Yeah, how'd that move to Wrigley work out for him? It always amuses me, because when you say "oh, so and so always hits so well in this ballpark" people often forget it's more than likely because of the pitching staff he faces every time he plays in that ballpark.
  17. I agree, one game determining home field advantage in the WS is ridiculous. Selig needs to go! It's the American way. If something goes wrong that people hate, the most common course of action is overreaction. There's a tie in the All-Star game and the league has egg on its face, so what do you do? Have a stupid exhibition game where (hypothetically) an at bat between a Blue Jays pitcher and a Rockies batter could determine whether the Angels or Braves could have home field advantage. Brilliance!
  18. Duck snort. He Gone! (God, I can't believe I said that... Hawk and DJ are the WORST announcers of all time) They really are. I cant stand listening to them for 5 minutes. I'd listen to them do a game before Berman on ESPN. Berman REALLY blows!! Like HeaveTheHawk.com says it clearly, he's more of a cheerleader than an announcer. Athough, I dont think anyone wants to see him in a cheerleader's uniform. http://bestsmileys.com/puking/2.gif Haha, that's an awesome smiley!! We need to save that for when Macias is inserted into the starting lineup. You know, like Hairston CF Walker 2B Lee 1B Ramirez 3B Burnitz RF Barrett C Macias SS http://bestsmileys.com/puking/2.gif Hollandsworth
  19. Taking Wickman out after 1 batter? Boooooooooo!!!
  20. Wickman in now. *points to avatar* UW-Whitewater representing!!
  21. My guess would be Ichiro, as he pretty much put the game away with his 2-run single.
  22. Come on, Vance, vote for Lee just to screw with things.
  23. Eh, I don't blame him for wanting to show that he's sorry. Although he looks and talks like a jerk so that doesn't help :werd: He is saying "I dont have anything against anybody"" .....except cameramen who happen to be minding thier own business.
