  1. This entire team is bad mojo. I don't think the wave could make us have any worse luck.
  2. Who the hell cares? You go to the ballpark to have fun. Doing the wave is harmless fun. Why get so worked up over it. Save your energy for the bunch of losers on the field.
  3. His relationship is running hot right now... If ARAM leaves if Dusty leaves, I say bye bye ARAM. I hate to say it, but as much as I dislike Dusty...(and I REALLY REALLY hate him, as a manager, at least) I'm not sure if I could say that. Terrible managers will lose you games, to an extent (and I think Dusty might just be pushing the envelope on that), but not nearly as many as a lack of talent will. If we lose Aramis, our offense and our 3B position (not many out there) is REALLY screwed. So are you advocating keeping Dusty if it means keeping Aramis? While I agree that I don't think there's any reason to think it would come down to making the choice, if it came down to it, yes. If we had to keep Dusty around for Aramis to stay (which I don't think is the case, at all), I would have to say Dusty has to stay. It's not like Hendry is going to hire anyone better, anyway. Aramis is worth much more than a good manager. Aramis is a cornerstone, no doubt. I'd love to see the offense built around him and DLee for years to come. However, if it meant sacrificing him to get rid of Dusty and actually get someone competent in here, I think I'd do it.

Why does anyone think ARAM will leave if Dusty goes? Because he said he liked him to the media? Isn't that pretty much a standard soundbyte from any athlete? I never said one way or the other. I was just asking davhern to clarify.

  6. That too, probably. Maybe it was a bit of both. Or maybe it was to give a few more hours to put deals together. There are 8 LESS hours to put deals together, actually.
  7. Why did they move the deadline a few years ago from midnight EST to 4 EST? A ratings thing so Sportscenter and all the sports talk shows could discuss the trades that day instead of *gasp* having to wait until the next day?
  8. I can't blame him for wanting to get off of this sinking ship. I'd probably do the same in his situation. Why spend the prime of his career in baseball hell?
  9. He lost it in 2004 and really hasn't gotten it back.
  10. Actually from everything we've heard from Jim and Dusty, he'd be a good fit.
  11. David Bell was traded to the Brewers for an A-ball prospect. Why, I think I'll tell my grandchildren where I was when I heard David Bell was traded.
  12. I really haven't seen him pitch, but he sounds a lot like Z when he first came up. Wild, walked everyone, but made the big pitch when he had to.
  13. He shouldn't have been left unprotected, period. I think he was brought up too soon, and his struggles could at least be partly attributed to that. It was still a dumb move by Hendry no matter what his numbers are this year.
  14. Not that I agree with a move like this, but the Indians feel that they are probably going to have to move Martinez out from behind the plate because of his complete inability to throw anyone out at second. Teams are running on him at will. He's a good enough hitter to be above average at just about any position(he'll probably end up at first), so they certainly wouldn't be averse to acquiring some catching prospects. Would they possibly be thinking of moving Martinez once his contract is up and then bring up this kid they just got? Victor's bat is far more valuable as a trading chip as a catcher than anywhere else.
  15. Are the Braves out of it? 4.5 back in the Wild Card race. I'm surprised Milwaukee didn't give up more for Wickman. Turnbow has been killing them. I agree about Abreu. Really? Wow. I haven't looked at the WC standings in a while. In that case I can understand.
  16. UW-Whitewater representing! Woo! And the Braves are out of it, too, and they're still acquiring players. There is NO reason that we shouldn't at least try to land Abreu. I mean really try.
  17. What's his contract like? He was one of the guys that was at the very top of my list when he was on the market.
  18. He plays hard and takes responsibility for his actions, which is more than can be said about a lot of guys on this team or in this organization. Hendry will ship that "bad attitude" out.
  19. Really. All we needed was for our toolsy guys to catch the ball and go on about a 22-game winning streak. And Walker ruined all that. The jerk.
  20. Is he toolsy? We know he can catch the ball. What are you waiting for, Jim? Trade 4 pitching prospects for him immediately!
  21. Todd screwed up, but he wasn't responsible for all 11 runs, although some posters here would like to pin all of them on him. He's showing some accountabilty, and that is why he'll be traded. If he takes the blame for his own actions, pretty soon everyone will be expected to do it, and we can't have that.
  22. Personally, I don't think this team has done anything to earn a day off. At least they won't lose. Wait. This is the Cubs. It wouldn't shock me in the least to hear they lost on an off day. All my life this team has found new and creative ways to lose.
  23. Dusty has a lot to be criticized for, even if he may have done soemthing right for once.
  24. Lack. Of. Accountability. This is why this team is where it is. Nobody does anything wrong, and if they do, it's always someone else's fault.
  25. Thats interesting. I wonder if they would move him for more pitching. Williamson + Hill for Freel? Depending on what we do the offseason Freel could start at 2B, SS, or CF for us next year. With this trade, I doubt we'll have to trade anywhere near that much for Freel.
