  1. Maddux coulda gone another inning, too. At least.
  2. Because His Highness the Lord Almighty Umpire says so.
  3. Well, at least it got Maddux out. Iguchi bunts..... seems like kind of an odd move, though. Maddux could have bunted the runner over. Why waste a PH doing that?
  4. Especially leadoff walks that lead to balks!
  5. JIMMY EDMONDS!! You are now only my second-most disliked Cub.
  6. You really don't see too many trades that work out so well for both teams.
  7. Sending Lilly during a Soriano AB in a tie game? Lou is on crack.
  8. I love me some DQ ice cream, though. Mmmmmmm Although Dennis the Menace as a mascot? Seriously? Whee Lilly!
  9. wha? I cannot believe that he was that slow running to first base 10 years ago and wish there was some way for me to find out how much speed he has lost. Oh, ok. It makes sense now. I thought you meant something completely different.
  10. It just seems like it. You'd think there'd be more interest going for 10 in a row. But we're not used to the game being on this late.
  11. It's basically rebranded Hardees. So yes. Not "basically." It is Hardees. Exactly the same. There's a Hardees in my town. It's the most disgusting food I've ever put in my mouth. I haven't eaten there in years, and the only reason I used to eat there sometimes was because it was across the street from my old job and I'd run over there on my lunch hour.
  12. I predict the Cubs will make me a perfect 10-0 tonight and make me the new NSBB Game Thread Pimp.
  13. I'd go for that. 2 runs through 9? I'd take it.
  14. Nine in a row! This team is on fire. Actually, fire is too tepid of a substance to describe what sort of hot thing the Cubs are on. Tonight, the Cubs send all-or-nothing starter Ted Lilly to the mound http://assets.espn.go.com/i/mlb/profiles/players/65x90/6223.jpg 5-4, 5.54 ERA, 1.40 WHIP Please be the Good Lilly today, and not the bad, Marquis-esqe Lilly who will be roundly taunted and mocked if you don't do well Lilly faces certain first-ballot HOF'er and two-time former Cub Greg Maddux http://assets.espn.go.com/i/mlb/profiles/players/65x90/3933.jpg 3-4, 3.69 ERA, 1.26 WHIP I'd rather face Maddux at Wrigley at this point in his career, as he only has a 1.84 ERA in five home starts this year. He's in the ultimate pitcher's park. He may not be the pitcher he once was, but he can still get it done. If they win tonight, tomorrow they're upgraded to Ultra Cubs. Go Mega Cubs!
  15. I'm off to bed. I'm hoping to wake up tomorrow to make Game Thread #10. Hold this lead, boys!
  16. Wuertz time. I'm always in favor of letting the pitcher hit when you're going to pull him anyway. I think we're a little short on the bench with Fukudome unavailable and 13 pitchers. Miles claims Fukudome is available, didn't he? Why isn't he in the game? He got the day off to spend time with his wife and kid. Yet he's at the ballpark, in uniform, ready to play if needed. Not much of a day off then, is it?
