  1. I don't care who it is. Walking the pitcher ought to be an automatic $2500 fine.
  2. This is where Lou needs to step in.
  3. Willingham makes a nice catch to retire Riot. 1 down.
  4. Can we hypnotize him and make him think it's the All-Star game?
  5. He'll get it back. Baker grounds to Fontenot to end the inning.
  6. Cody Ross doubles to CF, Uggly scores. Well, there goes my no-hitter prediction.
  7. In that their team is loaded, or that they'll choke horribly down the stretch?
  8. That's how I feel about the playoffs, too. But, then again, the other team's fans should be twice as worried about running into our high-powered offense, dominant starting pitching, and shut-down setup man/closer. Thinking about it from the D-backs perspective, they really should be afraid of us. Their offense is still in flux, even with the acquisition of Dunn, and they don't have that many dependable hitters. The pitching, well, we all know the story on that, but we've been able to get to them a little this year...usually at home. #-o Of course none of our pitchers can figure out that you should never throw a strike to Chris Young. I feel like I'm watching other teams playing against Soriano, STOP THROWING THE GUY STRIKES It's ok to throw him strikes, just so long as that strike isn't a fastball. If we play Arizona in the NLDS and I'm Lou, I institute a $2,500 fine for every fastball in the strike zone thrown to Chris Young.
  9. Miami has a way of cooling down hot streaks. We all remember that sweep of the Pirates last September where we just beat the crap out of them at Wrigley, then went to Miami and laid a huge egg. I'm feeling confident, though. I say we'll win 2 of 3. I'll even go out on a bigger limb. Z will pitch a no-hitter tonight. You heard it here first.
  10. It's not her fault. What's she going to do? Say no to a government who would probably kill her and her family if she refused to cooperate?
  11. I, for one, welcome Michael Phelps as our new overlord.
  12. Just warning you, though, if the Cubs choke it away again and break my heart once more, I'm probably going to be insufferable this offseason. I never said I was perfect, just self-aware.
  13. he has no ass, that's what makes him good, apparently. They did a breakdown of his features before his race. He's 6'4'' with a 6'7'' wingspan. Size 14 feet. His legs are as long as that of a man who is 6'0'', but his torso is as tall as a man who is 6'8''.
  14. Fry the Fish. Pile it on, too. Don't just win, but embarrass them for 2003. Score 8 runs in the 8th inning, highlighted by a DLee double. I hate the Marlins. I hope the Cubs slaughter them this weekend.
  15. I must be living in bizarro world. If you had told me on Opening Day that Jim Edmonds would be a Cub this season, he'd do well, and I'd actually LIKE him, I'd have driven you to the asylum myself.
  16. In other news, Brad Ziegler's amazing streak of scoreless innings to begin his career has been snapped at 39 1/3 thanks to a BJ Upton RBI double.
  17. Dude is a freak. I am not even beginning to even suggest he's not 100 percent clean, but I find it strange that if just about anyone else was this dominant in their sport, steroid rumors would follow them forever. I've not heard a whisper of that with Phelps. I'm positive he's clean though, and he's just a genetic freak of nature.
  18. Just in case Aramis does have to miss any time, and if nothing else to block the Brewers who are without Branyan. We can DFA Ward to make room. I don't want to pay him that kind of money to sit on the bench next year. And we can't block the Brewers. They can block us.
  19. Looks like I may have some competition for starting the Game Thread for Game 1 of the NLDS.
  20. A lot of people stopped being Braves fans when it stopped being cool. Yeah, he was one of them. He'd watch all the Braves games on TBS. I remember the day Blauser hit 3 hr's against us at Wrigley. He'd call me, simply laugh, and then hang up. He was kind of a jerk sometimes. And he'd wear his Braves hat EVERYWHERE.
  21. I wish my friend was still a Braves fan so I could rub his face in it.
  22. If she's worth her salt, she'd understand if you had to settle for watching the video of the delivery later that night. I already told her that if her water breaks and the Cubs are in the playoffs, she's gonna have to deal with me going back and forth. The good stuff probably won't come until well after the game anyway.
