Oh god...is this actually possible? I'm finally starting to believe that there is actually a realistic chance of this happening. I don't like how they (according to Rosenthal, anyways) would rather keep Dempster and Let Wood walk. If we got Peavy I'd say Wood would be 43324x more necessary than Dempster. I'm worried about the bullpen as it is. IF the Cubs get Peavy, I want no part of resigning Dempster. Let him walk, take the picks, and bring back Woody. Agreed. While Peavy, Z, harden, Dempster, Lilly would be a legendary rotation, the pen would be shaky at best, and Id rather bring back Wood to solidify it, plus maybe grab a lefty bat. With Peavy, Z, Harden, Lilly as 1-4, Marquis would be a sufficient #5, or who knows, maybe Rich Hill can pull himself up. If we could hang on to Marshall, he'd be a servicable #5. If given the option, I'd rather retain Wood than Dempster. And let's not get too excited, yet. Remember the Cubs were the "front runners" for Roberts last offseason, too.
