  1. Oh! Another scathing retort from IMB. I consider myself pwned. For I now see the error of my ways. I cannot be passionate about the Cubs and ever hope to achieve the maturity of IMB. For his month-long ban a few months ago has made him wiser. Teach me, o great one. Maybe I can harass other posters via IM like you did. Perhaps that'll make me as cool as you.
  2. oh my god i love this post so much love it so much my heart skipped a beat I guess it's true what they say: Simple things please simple minds.
  3. I don't buy that at all. The media reported the truth about Bradley's history. Maybe we should have listened. They didn't make anything up about him -- he's been a cantankerous jerk everywhere he's been. Did you expect the writers not to question whether he would be a good fit or whether he was worth the headaches? This. There's a reason he's been through so many different teams in his career. Nobody wants to put up with his crap. Except for all of his teammates that loved him. Since ya know, he gives his all and tries to win every game. Just seems odd that you can get all pissy and offended that Milton is complaining about the fans or the umps, oh grow up Milton, stop complaining Milton!! How bout you grow up? How bout you stop complaining about how a guy carries himself? Why does it bother you that he's upset by fans not liking him? Why does it bother you that he gets pissed about a bad strike zone? Why does Milton have to be this virtuous individual and you can go on season over rants around the 2nd week of the season and do nothing but pout about virtually everything? Wow. who pissed in your cheerios this morning? Read the thread. I am by FAR not the only one to criticize Milton, and yet you choose me to go off on? Before you advise me to grow up I suggest you do the same. I just think it's an obvious answer that he's overlooking: The fans are getting on his case because he's having a bad season, plus the fans are finally getting frustrated en masse over 100+ years without a championship. The Cubs aren't the "Lovable Losers" anymore, and the fans expect better than they did in the 70's and 80's. Milton brought a lot of this upon himself, as others have said. He's had a long history of on-field craziness that precedes him. If it were any other Cub who got thrown out of the game for arguing with an umpire, fans would say "Oh, well it was a bad call" or "Oh, well he's just frustrated with his slump/the team's play lately" or whatever. However, since it's Milton, with his history, people think back to his past acts. His reputation is not undeserved. I wouldn't trade him just to trade him, but if it somehow can make the team better, then I'm all for it. I'd be all over Fukudome/Bradley as the 1-2 next year. If we could focus on trading an OF though, I'd rather it be Soriano because of his contract. However, Milton is just the most movable. If he could stay healthy, even if his power doesn't come back, he still gets on base at a good clip and would be a very good number 2 hitter. If he'd only shut up, he'd have no problems.

  5. Results are a band-aid for most everything. If he hits like he's supposed to and runs his mouth anyway, I can guarantee the Cubs would be more likely to keep him than if he struggles and runs his mouth.
  6. And yet the Cubs keep making it look so easy.
  7. The inning ends on one play, dude. That's usually a good thing!
  8. Why? As a GM he traded Scott Kazmir for Victor Zambrano.
  9. We're in for 3 games of absolutely hilarious baseball.
  10. Not a good fit. He's not going to play over Helton. He's probably not going to be much more than a glorified pinch hitter.
  11. No, Erik, it was a regular hit. Great, Fred, you ruined the Major League quote. I wouldn't unfilter that kind of language just because, you know. I do have standards. ;) Some standards !! The quote is "......... One God damned hit". but you think I ruined the quote, eh? .... and what was the point of bringing it up in the first place, when it was just posted by somebody else at the top of the page ??? Yeah, standards. Wow. So I didn't read the whole thread. Settle down, I was just messing around.
  12. Do they still play the blues in Chicago When baseball season rolls around? When the snow melts away, do the Cubbies still play in their ivy-covered burial ground? When I was a boy they were my pride and joy, but now they only bring fatigue To the home of the brave, the land of the free, and the doormats of the National League. RIP Steve, your words still ring true some quarter-century after your death.

  14. Did Wakefield start one of the Red Sox games in '04?
  15. http://espn.go.com/chicago/columns/blog?post=4415361&name=levine_chicago Oh God I hope not. Wrigley does not need a jumbotron. Call me old fashioned.
  16. Thankfully I work 330-midnight so I won't be tempted to watch this stinkeroo.
  17. That makes 2 of us. The wife owes me for the Time Travellers effing Wife, which was almost as fun to watch as the past 2 weeks of Cobs baseball. Oh God, my wife wants to drag me to that piece of crap.
  18. Haha, we are proving this weekend that the strategy worked. The offense looks eerily similar to the one last October. No hope of anything, but you still watch hoping that your intuition is for some reason wrong. So we lost today on a Randy Wolf 2 run double. He pitched seven 1 hit innings, and provided all the runs scored by the Dodgers today. He also had as many hits as the Cubs did all game. One hit? That's all we got? One god damn hit?
  19. Lou isn't the problem. He can come back. But I hope he shows more fire next year.
  20. Yes. Have you not seen what he has done over the last 8 years with far less money to spend? aaahahahaaahaha seriously... ned colleti? NED COLLETI? You mean we can sign such player as Juan Pierre, Jason Schmidt, Andruw Jones, and Rafael Furcal to big contracts too? ALRIGHT! Alfonso Soriano and Todd Hundley say hello.
  21. Is Trammel more "old school" with bunting and steals and such, or does he manage a more modern game? I don't think Bobby Valentine will be coming back to the States anytime soon. He's like a God in Japan.
  22. Yeah, just like we got 'em each of the last 101 "next years".
  23. My offseason philosophy would be "Find a competent General Manager." The rest would take care of itself.
  24. What'd you expect with the great Joel Pineiro on the mound? Now if Smoltz pitches a good game on Sunday, then it is obviously not meant to be and we might as well throw in the towel. Pixie. Dust.
