    I'm glad we got a good return, but I'm not as ecstatic as most people on here are. There were times I disliked Theriot, but not with the passion of 90% of the people on this board. I wish him well.

    Everbody Loves the Cubs was also my favorite. Couple that with "CHICAGO CUBS BASEBALL IS ON THE AIR.....From Wrigley Field in Chicago" and that's a perfect summer's day.

    I was wondering if they're trying to get him to work on his plate discipline by putting him there and telling him his job is to just get on base. That's what I was thinking, too. I don't think he'd be leading off if the games mattered anymore, but this gets him to the plate the most.

    I always thought "no facial hair" was a stupid rule. It serves no purpose and is simply a rule for the sake of having a rule. That's assuming the rule is the reason he shaved. His beard was pretty dumb in Cleveland, though. Maybe he realized that.

    Strasburg threw a side session today and reported no pain or discomfort, so that's a good sign.

    Sleeping on it, I like this trade. The Cubs have a good track record of developing pitchers, and if Larry is still around once/if these kids make the majors, he can do some good things with them. I especially like that Wallach kid. Any pitcher than can consistently throw 3 pitches for strikes has the potential to be very, very good.

    I have no idea how the Pirates got those two prospects for Octavio Dotel. Hendry always says that he wants both teams to win the trade. I doubt he pushed like a guy who held all of the cards. Did he feel remorse for the Aramis and DLee trades or something? The DLee trade at the time was pretty fair. Choi was still a top prospect and Lee was a salary dump. Aramis, yeah you got me on that one. Maybe Hendry should petition MLB for all games to end in ties so nobody's feelings get hurt.

There was irrational Theriot love, and irrational violent frothing hate for him here, the kind of hate reserved for one who murders your family. I never really understood it.

    Could have been a hell of a lot worse, and like people have said, the market for Lilly shrank considerably this past week. There was nobody really bidding seriously against the Dodgers.

    Liking what I'm hearing about Wallach so far. Smit seems to be getting his walks under control and has a 4.6 k/bb ratio so far this year in AA. Maybe we could flip Dewitt for Johnson and that's really not a terrible return. A cautiously optimistic "Good job" to Jimbo.

    Apparently neither of those players exist. Just like Hendry to trade for ghost players. I would have preferred Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny.
