    NFL Week 14

    Potentially, a great tank weekend.
  2. Over Nico sure. Over Madrigal/Morel is a bigger improvement. Trust me... I agree that they need quality over quantity but seem to be unwilling to acquire true elite talent again. I submit a fellow former #1 overall pick coming off a ~6+ WAR season with 25 HRs in a diminished offensive environment (60+ over the past 3) at SS is a true elite talent…The narrative around his FA is not so different from the questions players like Adrian Beltre (coming off his monster breakout season) and DJ LeMahiu faced the first time they entered FA True but they have yet to sign him.
  3. I don't want to even hypothetically defend the Cubs but... You're implying they're similar in age, position, and injury history, which is incorrect on all 3. I totally understand those points, but my point is that they seem willing to go to 8 years for a SS that that is a slight improvement over the current SS. Over Nico sure. Over Madrigal/Morel is a bigger improvement. Trust me... I agree that they need quality over quantity but seem to be unwilling to acquire true elite talent again.

    NFL Week 14

Texans please give me false hope for today and the remainder of the season.
  5. But we'll give Swanson 8 years? I don't want to even hypothetically defend the Cubs but... You're implying they're similar in age, position, and injury history, which is incorrect on all 3.
  6. Offer him 6 and go from there. At some point, they're going to have to overpay.
  7. I definitely can't see the Cubs matching what the Yankees are likely to give Rodon. (7 years).
  8. Fwiw, I like the videos and reports on Nimmala more than McGonigle. I also like the swing and power potential of Aiden Miller.
  9. None of us are going to know just how much money is available, and if committing $80m or so to Bellinger and Jameson takes us out of the running for someone like Correa…we probably weren’t seriously involved anyways and there are bigger problems. What these signings could do is signal our desire and potential ability to compete immediately, which at the very least alleviates some concerns if Correa is picking between something like us and Minnesota (who I wouldn’t think would win out otherwise). Anything under 233mil is a disgrace for this market and their profits (short and long term). If these moves are a substitute for a better player, the Cubs are screwed. They need elite talent not role players. Their moves so far are similar to the biggest moves of last offseason which left them well below average in wins and talent.
  10. It doesn't matter what order but I'm still skeptical of them accomplishing what they need to. Hope they prove me wrong but it'll be more difficult for them to get one of the big 3 SS, Rodon/Senga, & Contreras/Vazquez it'll be a disappointing offseason.
  11. One would hope the Cubs 1st move of an off-season (premised on loose purse strings) would not consist of a rebound year to justify a contract.
  12. I was just going to type how much I would love Pollard in this offense. However, both him and Herbert are terrible at pass protection. If they draft top 3, I take Anderson. Top 2, entertain trades but Young or Stroud don't have much value. After top 3, I draft Johnson given the poor FA group of WRs. If you draft Johnson, I would consider extending only Mooney. If not, I would look into extending both Mooney and Claypool. I'm not sure Mooney or Claypool can be better than your 3rd best in a decent WR group. I'm not sold on Jones in the same role as Leno developed into. I think he's more of a backup swing tackle. McGlinchey or Brown for T. I'd cut Whitehair. Draft G in the 1st 3 rounds. Sign Pollard at RB. Draft Anderson, sign Payne at DT. sign a FA LB. Cut Jackson, draft a S 1st 4 rounds. Go hard after Jamel Dean and extend Johnson.
  13. Agreed, he was the best fit among all available FAs. I think his speed will be above avg going into mid- late 30s. We'll see if Correa settles on a similar deal as last year. He's too injury prone to keep gambling on himself.
  14. Blacknight7v 4 eva...
  15. While Swanson is my least fav of the 4, marginal is a severe underestimation.
  16. Hopefully, Leatherwood and Harry get half of the offensive snaps.
  17. I can not wait to see Deion at Colorado.
  18. My guess is that the big 3 transactions will be... Senga Bell Bellinger
  19. If they hit in FA & with their solid farm system, they might have something. Their OF is still trash and I'm skeptical of Perez repeating but they're improving.

    NFL Week 12

In all seriousness do the horsefeathering Packers ever get called for holding? Sure as horsefeathers never get called for it vs. the Bears. The one time they call a hold, they actually didn't hold.

    NFL Week 12

The refs have forgotten to penalize holding.
  22. Great hire by UW, should be able to recruit nationally instead of just Wisconsin. Players will have to decide whether to get over Leonard quickly. This was not a normal Badgers move.
  23. He gets a pass given the talent on that defense even before Smith and Quinn were traded. If they acquire talent and still suck, there should be some smoke however Williams would be on the hot seat 1st (same philosophy).
  24. It's never really possible to enjoy the suck. Disagree. Context... Young man.
