  1. I think that 1-pitch plate appearance took a lot out of Scherzer. Dusty, you really should pull him before it's too late.
  2. Always feel great about those games where you've committed 4 errors and are still tied. Gulp.
  3. The appropriate time to show the "with men on" batting stats is with the bases empty.
  4. Losing this one is going to gnaw at them all offseason.
  5. Nats are going to be devastated, wasting a Strasburg start like this.
  6. http://www.sbnation.com/2016/12/1/13804504/mlb-all-star-game-world-series-home-field-advantage-cba I love how for years they were like "it's too difficult logistically we have to reserve hotel rooms" or something and now they just randomly decide that it's doable now. Glad though. Also glad we could take advantage of the last year of the rule in a backwards way. Trying to imagine a time traveler telling me in the wake of the 02 ASG: "Don't worry, this uproar is a good thing. MLB will now link WS home-field to the ASG winner. Then some year in the future the Cubs make the Series, and the AL having won HFA (and 4 games of DH) ironically helps a Cubs team with the best record in baseball by getting a critical bat back into the lineup, and ultimately breaking the championship drought. Trust me." Clearly the most cockamamie plot line ever. Would've LMAO.
  7. it probably isn't too bad unless you're in full yankees gear I think in general non-"rivalry" interleague matchups are fairly tame in all parks. I would assume there is going to be a couple A-holes jealous of the Cubs being the newer story and wanting to lash out, but by and large it shouldn't be an issue. I haven't been to Fenway in years though. Can't speak to the Fenway question specifically, but was in Boston last week and heard a lot of "soooo happy you guys won, love Theo, also love Tito and would've still been happy if Cleveland won because they haven't won in a long time either. But really, really happy the Cubs won." etc. I'd agree that it shouldn't be too bad unless you go out of your way to be a jerk. For example, I wouldn't chant "the '04 Sawx were juicers."
  8. I was on the Riverwalk and had just passed under the Wabash bridge when I heard a big splash behind me. Saw the two guys flailing in the water and thought, "I'm going to see those idgets on YouTube tonight, aren't I?"
  9. Randall Simon Tom Goodwin Doug Glanville Troy O'Leary Mike Remlinger Mark Guthrie Bill horsefeathering Buckner I'm late to this thread, but just wanted to say it's an honor to be remembered. :-) And maybe the Cubs don't make the LCS without Eck, but I also wouldn't let that ball through like Durham, and we might've had this party a long time ago! What? What's the matter with you? Why the horsefeathers do people always LOL when I say that?
  10. Going into yesterday evening, there was no living memory of the Cubs winning the World Series. Overnight, everyone* alive has seen the Cubs as World Series champions. An increase of some tens or hundreds of millions that have had that experience. That is just horsefeathering awesome! [by everyone, of course, I refer to people for whom baseball is a significant cultural marker. (Others just have yet to be evangelized!)]
  11. [tweet] [/tweet]OK, it's a new day and I'm still seeing headlines and TV coverage and social media... I think this championship thing is 100% legit and not a dream! :flythew:
  12. I just made the trip to the future in my time machine, and all I'm allowed to say without causing all kinds of trouble is: You're not wrong. Also: Having an NFL team in London turns out to be a horrible idea. But you probably guessed that already. I can't wait to see how you guys react when what happens tonight, happens. I mean, I've already read your future posts. But can't wait for it to happen for you all in real time, and then actually have that conversation. 8-) See, totally fun!
  13. +1 Hopefully it opens things up a lot going forward. Joe & some players talking about the pressure of playing at home in this series. Started worrying me that rather than learning and building on the experience, it might just weigh on the guys more and more as the years wore on. But we don't have to worry about that any more! GO CUBS! :yahoo:
  14. OK. The enormity of it all is hitting me, like all it once. OMG OMG OMG OMG
