  1. Having unexpected production out of CF? Awesome. Knowing that it drives Cards fans crazy, and calling him "Jimmy Ballgame" gets under their skin? Priceless.
  2. 2-6-1 for the visitors. 2-6-1 for the Cubs. Big difference thus far is Looper at 96 pitches, Lilly at 80. Buckle your seatbelts!
  3. I think this is shaping up to be "The Edmonds game." Past game comments should be interesting. Now, if only we could a rally going...
  4. This is all just plot development to get us to Edmonds being involved in the game-winning play late.
  5. Perfect time to pull back-to-back squeeze plays by the Cards here.
  6. Way to pick up Edmonds on that one, Tony!
  7. I thought Molina never strikes out? Huh, you learn something new every day.
  8. Lilly PC = 38 through 4. Keep it up, Ted!
  9. C'mon Kosuke, make 'em pay for this injustice!
  10. Aw, shucks. Gotta take the bad with the good in Lilly's case. Homers happen, but only 30 pitches and a couple baserunners...
  11. Part of me would like to see LaRussa retaliate if that is the case. Then we could have Z put one high and tight on Ludwik. Muahahahaha Hope things don't get out of control this weekend. But yeah, I wouldn't be shocked if LaRussa calls for some message pitches.
  12. The Cards need at least 2 of these, and probably all 3, to keep their division hopes alive. I'm hoping Lou can practice a little jujitsu when LaRussa starts overmanaging and really pin these guys to the wall. GO CUBS!!!
  13. I would've preferred an Eyre for Manny swap, but... As long as Eyre doesn't bite us back in October, a hard thrower with some upside doesn't sound like a bad return who had worn out his welcome, whatever the reason. Glad to have the salary off the books, too.
  14. Cards' pen looking to ignite a comeback. 9-6 top 8, 1 down.
  15. It's actually quite amazing. He's just sticking the knife in and turning it. "Here's the best offense in the league. Get some outs or suffer." And more runs! Backe : Cooper :: Marquis : LaRussa Shame. I really thought Backe could've gone one more here.
  16. :yahoo: :clapping: :yahoo: Now this is how you avenge a Carlos Lee homer!
  17. That'll do, Jason. That'll do just fine. \:D/
  18. Make 'em pay, Jason. (I mean with the bat.)
  19. OK, Jason. Be Grand Marquis today rather than Marquis de Sade. Hopefully we can score 11 or so again. I don't think we'll need quite all that, but wouldn't mind a couple more long balls from the middle of the order. Go Cubs!
  20. Wow, ironic indeed. Too bad for Sean if it's true; I hope it turns out to be a minor issue. Just goes as a reminder that although you can be prudent about managing health risks on your roster, nobody is a rock-solid lock to be healthy for 162 games. Especially true for starting pitchers.
  21. Ugh, it's getting to the point where he might never come back. And to that end, Trib hints that it may be the end of Hill's year. Not that it's any great shock with him going on the DL. I suppose the plan will be to work with him over the winter, put him in the mix for the back end of the rotation next spring, and hope for the best. [/sigh]
  22. We can make a big push to bury the Cards this weekend. If we get a little help from the Dodgers and Marlins over the next 10 days, they might bury themselves. If they're going to fade, this would be a fine time for it.
