  1. Quick reminder to everyone that this thread will be locked tomorrow (Friday) at noon. Thank you for your interest!
  2. <--------------------------applauding Mark Prior =D>
  3. I am not watching the game on tv so I don't know. However, I wouldn't be surprised if Murton was getting booed.
  4. Really, Gameday should have a picture of Murton by now
  5. I think I'd rather have him say that than what could be the real reason --- fans making Wrigley Field the UnFriendly Confines. boo! I was waiting for someone to say that! The thing that makes you wonder what's going on is that the Cubs since the '84 playoffs are playing under .500 ball at Wrigley during the postseason, too. In '89, Will Clark was unconscious. In '98, Atlanta was clearly a better team. In '03, Bartman, AGon, Baker, Prior and Wood choked. Don't forget that Baker stayed on the bench rather than calming everyone down
  6. Looking at the box I see that there were 22 K's last night between the 2 teams. Here's the recap from Bo:
  7. I'm all about some Minor League baseball on ESPN2!
  8. Gallagher done through 5 :-s Sean was in a jam with the bases loaded in the 3rd, tossed 8 pitches in the 4th and 8 pitches in the 5th. Sean retired the last 9 he faced and threw 79 pitches with 2 K's.
  9. To the bottom of the 6th, 4-2 Peoria
  10. That's great! A reminder that Bo will be e-mailing the recaps from the games in Daytona throughout the rest of the season. His recap will be posted after each game in the discussion/box score thread.
  11. Not necessarily. If a guy is hitting .300 in the second half and in a game bats 4 times, K's every AB and leaves 10 stranded then said player will get booed. But I gues that wouldn't be an action if a player did that bad

  13. Their broadcast is a reminder as to why I have my stereo system also hooked up to the surround sound.
  14. The amount of money shouldn't be a factor. Just because someone makes more money than me that does not give me a right to boo them when they confirm that they are human and make a mistake. Now granted, I am not saying that a person shouldn't be disappointed, but this pickinga scapegoat and booing seemingly hoping for them to fail is getting old.
  15. This booing situation really gets me. When I went to Chicago I saw first hand that many of the Cub fans had their guy that they ripped no matter what while at the same time having guys that were praised regardless of how bad they were playing. For the people that feel that it is their right to boo I wonder what it would be like if someone came to their place of work and booed them when they messed something up.

  17. Daytona Recap from Bo: CUBS WIN COMEBACK THRILLER 10-8 Daytona Overcame a Six-Run Deficit And Robinson Chirinos Stroked A Three-Run Bomb In The Final Frame By Bo Fulginiti DAYTONA BEACH, Fla—Tuesday night reminded fans at Jackie Robinson Ballpark just how much fun the Daytona Cubs can be to watch when things are going well. Coming in on the heels of a three-game losing streak and a 4-13 start to the second half, the Cubs were looking to find a way to show fans the same promise and potential that they flashed in their second place finish for the first half. Enter Game 2 of the four-game set against the Tampa Yankees, and an opportunity for the Cubs to finally show signs of life. Despite an early six-run deficit Daytona refused to quit, as they answered the call with a five-run seventh frame and a dramatic three-run homerun from Robinson Chirinos in the bottom half of the ninth to complete the comeback and win by a final of 10-8. The Yankees came out swinging early, as they posted a seven-run bottom half of the fourth inning fueled by a three-run homerun from Justin Christian, putting Tampa up 8-2. But the Cubs relied on a solid effort from the bullpen as four relievers came to the aid of starter Yorkin Ferreras and held the Yanks to just one earned run in the final 5.1 innings of the game. Nate Sevier (2-0) pitched a scoreless ninth and was the pitcher of record when Chirinos stroked his game-winning blast as the righty won his second game of the season. Yankees closer Paul Thorpe (1-2) squandered an opportunity to notch his 19th save as he gave up the final three runs in the ninth and was charged with his second loss of the ’05 campaign. The Cubs were led at the plate by catcher Tony Richie who went 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI to raise his average to .313 in the winning effort. Designated hitter Jake Fox also added a two-run homerun in the fourth inning and scored two runs in a 1-for-3 night with the bat. With the win, Daytona snapped a three-game losing streak and improved to 5-13, as the Yankees dropped to 5-12 with the crushing defeat. The two teams will head right back to “The Jack” for Game 3 on Wednesday night, as the Cubs send righty Juan Mateo (6-3, 4.14 ERA) to the hill to battle Yankees righty Steven White (0-0, 10.12 ERA). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. EST.
