  1. that's not a suit, fool, that's a nice express blazer son, that's marc ecko
  2. jeebus. this game is bananas.
  3. how predictable was this. I hate not being comfortable w a 16 point lead. if i were another team, i'd press KU all game.
  4. We really have no one capable of guarding him. Maybe Little. Maybe Releford. But I have a feeling he'll go off.
  5. I don't know why you're assuming that. We'll still have trouble defending Warren. And we're still a bunch of freshmen and sophomores that have a tendency to jeckyll and Hyde. Yiou have had trouble stopping guards, though, so hopefully Collins can exploit that. Need a big game from him.
  6. But that was the only part of this discussion that has been remotely interesting.
  7. Kansas is going to win the conference again. Congrats Big 12. Maybe if KU lost every player and had to play IU style, one of you could step up and win that thing outright. Self has to be coach of the year. if kansas wins the big 12 i'd have no problem with self winning COTY nationally, but if anyone besides anderson wins big 12 COTY i'll lose my [expletive]. That doesn't make any damn sense. Yeah, that confuses me. I think Self should win it, but I wouldn't have a problem with Anderson. He's done a hell of a job this year. I have a feeling he'll get it, too. People will write off Self's success because it's Kansas. And for the record, IG, I wouldn't be too confident about KU winning the Big 12. @OU, vs MU, vs UT still on the slate. Should handle UT and MU, but both are loseable. @OU will still be an upset, IMO, even if griffin doesn't play.
  8. KU keeps pace with OU and moves to 11-1 in conference, 22-5 overall. Heck of a job by Self putting this team together. I have no idea how we'll stop Blake Griffin, though.
  9. I don't know what to make of this UI team. I thought they were pretty decent, but that's two games where they put up less than 40. I heard McCamey was sick tonight, which I'm sure didnt help.
  10. Can I get a rundown of the Lavin tenure at UCLA? I know everyone pretty much hates him there because he wasn't God or John Wooden, but why, exactly? I understand UCLA is a top notch program, but what did he do (or not do) that makes him so reviled in Westwood? He was a horrible coach and teacher (from all accounts, his practices were basically pick-up games with no actual coaching). His most talented players never came close to reaching their potential and all his teams underperformed by a wide margin. His recruiting dropped precipitously after the first few years (when he was living off the 1995 national championship). And when fans, alum and media started calling him out, he said UCLA fans weren't satisfied unless they won national championships and needed to lower their expectations (this wasn't the reason most UCLA fans were upset with Lavin; some fans still need to become more realistic but this was complete BS to try and deflect the criticism). Baron Davis said it best when he was practicing at Pauley with the Warriors last year: "We should have a banner up there: the only team to make the tournament without a coach." I thought his biggest problem was Baron Davis and JaRon Rush going pro after their sophomore years. Those guys stick around and Davis actually stays healthy and who knows what they do. JaRon got some really bad advice.
  11. I see what you're saying. they didnt name it; they just took the twenty-five mill and said, "do what you will," then got outraged when the Lauries did what they did.
  12. lol, he was baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad. He had some loaded teams at both DePaul and FSU and bombed with all of them. The guy at LSU who coached when Shaq was there--can't think of his name--was a terrible coach, too. dale brown. Yes, though I might have just seen him in his waning years. I think he did go to a Final Four or two, so comparing him to Kennedy is pretty unfair.

  14. See, the problem with us being really good lately is that suddenly I've had this thought in my mind that we might be able to put out a win there, which we all know is probably close to impossible. It's probably not that implausible. Maybe I'm remembering it wrong, but I thought our last two games at AFH have been closer than the ones at Paige Arena. I think one came down to the wire. Still, I'm expecting the place to be a frenzy. And hopefully Marcus morris won't bump a ref this time and have to sit out the last 10 minutes of the game. I think it was 2 years ago Matt Lawrence missed a 3 at the buzzer that would've tied it, although last year you guys won by nearly 20. It's definitely a game I don't have any expectations of winning though, the only way it happens if some combination of great Mizzou shooting and Aldrich or Collins missing a bunch of time with foul trouble goes down. (it's no longer Paige) Why not? Because she's a cheat. So they stripped the title. Finally, some answers. So you're saying they were gonna name their basketball arena after one of their students? I kinda don't blame her for cheating. That's a lot of pressure, knowing your school is gonna name their basketball arena after you. When did she go to Mizzou?
  15. Guys I'm getting some weird feedback from the mizzou folks. Can anyone tell me who this Paige person was--I'm assuming probably a famous, decorated alum or faculty member--and why they decided not to name their new arena after him/her?

I would look to that game two years ago when Lawrence missed the three (my freshman year) as an indication that Mizzou can win there. However, they are a much better team at Mizzou Arena (it's no longer Paige) than they are on the road. They haven't even had many close games at Mizzou. Why not? because you're stupid. got him. Who was Paige again? A famous dean there right? A prestigious alum?

  19. I can't wait for Mizzou to come to AFH. I need revenge.
  20. Indiana looked like a crappy mid-major. Crean has a lot of work to do. Kelvin really did a number on that program.
  21. I really like him, but figured it was cause he's a Big 10 homer. I've never really noticed any homer tendencies from him. I just think he knows the game and delivers his knowledge in a really amusing way.
  22. here's where I make an embarrassing admission. I like Steve Lavin as a color guy.
  23. you're just trying to jinx us.
  24. this is shaping up to be a terrible week for KU hoops
