  1. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AnN9XjzKiG2REPtQ.Z8meP0RvLYF?slug=ap-giantsmoves&prov=ap&type=lgns Sabean digs him some seniors. again, sorry if already posted.
  2. He won't get a lot in return becuase he has basically ruined whatever market he could have gotten by demoting Church and then never playing Church (well that one was on Robinson). And now making it known to the media that Church is not a "team player". It's right out of the Jim Hendry playbook. Not coincidentely, a reason why I don't think the Cubs will be interested. I don't think Hendry ever really drove down the value of any of the players. Baker and the Trib is a different story, but Hendry always talks up his players, no matter who they are, and glosses over the tough questions that might put the players in a bad light. sure, there was the demotion of Patterson, but there wasn't much of an option at that point.
  3. I think that was clearly interference. call it on that endzone play, you have to call it there.
  4. Manny to Seattle? why do they even print this? Would Seattle take on Manny's remaining contract? That could mean Seattle will not have enough money to sign Schmidt. not sure if you're going on a tangent. my point was I highly doubt Manny accepts a trade to the Pacific Northwest.
  5. Manny to Seattle? why do they even print this?
  6. so that makes a deadline deal of Pie, Veal, Murton and anything else the Cubs have of value for Todd Walker and Greg Maddux, right?
  7. as a Bears fan, I want no part of Steve Smith against the Bears cover 2.
  8. anyone else get a chuckle out of the slow mo of the ball to the head?
  9. this might mean the inside rumors are that the Cubs are closest so their division rivals are chiming in to drive up the price. just a thought.
  10. Or at least one year. I think a lot of it has to do with them wanting to be able to sign or trade for a good starter and not wanting Carp to feel undervalued if the guy makes more than him. maybe that is the case and they know a surgically repaired wing can't last much longer throwing all those curveballs and the majority of the contract will be paid by insurance anyway.
  11. be careful. blame comes cheaply in Cubfandom, and many don't like the sigining.
  12. even in that respect it looks like a blessing in disguise for the Dodgers to me. Greg will do well in Petco though.
  13. I was there for that. What a great thing when they gave him an ovation. the only time in three years Dusty pulled him at the right time.
  14. All 1 of them? :D 2 - Padilla and Maddux Plus it was in about 15 minutes. Here comes the wave... aaaahhh runnnn.... *sarcasm*.... so... i wonder wut Hendry is doing right now? insert donut joke here.
  15. Actually a Big 10 title game would have featured an OSU-UM rematch. Both UM and UW had 1 loss in conference and UM beat UW. but the Big 10 would certainly have OSU and UM on one division, and UW would probably be in the other division.
  16. "No Business?" How? Maybe you think UM is better but I doubt it's a big enough gap to think that Flordia has "No Buisiness" being the National Championship game. I think it is pretty well stated that the majority of the voters switched due to not wanting to see a rematch. IMO, you do what you've always done when voting. noone ever bounces one team over another in the high rankings when the bouncee is idle. the voters justify their incumbancy voting year after year, only to change their mind because their buddies on the tv box are saying they don't want a rematch. perhaps Florida has a substantive argument in deserving to be there, but procedurally, this is like making it illegal to pee in the bushes after you pull up your zipper.
  17. what Alou should have done is just take a year's worth of justifiable rage out on the ump after blowing this, the ultimate of bad calls. seriously. look at the picture. the guy in grey's arm is parallel to the rail. Bartman is thrusting his arms out as far as they will go. Alou's body is contorted in a way that makes it physically impossible for his glove to be over the wall. the ball was in play. fan interference. batter's out.
  18. I too picked Texas. USC probably did have a better all around team, but I just love Vince Young. He doesn't necessarily put up great passing stats (though last year he was #3 in passer rating in the NCAA), but he wins. His Rose Bowl game was one of the best performances I've ever seen from an athlete in that big of a situation. That's why I really liked him this year in the NFL draft. Look at this year even - that team was awful last year, and even though his passer rating is pretty lousy, they've won 5 of the 9 games he started. I think he'll make several Pro Bowls before his career is through. I really dont care of follow pro football enough to make any judgements on his pro career. He does seem to have that I am going to win this game at all costs level that he can achieve. Similar to guys like Micheal Jordan or John Elway. John Elway? He was in the playoffs like 8 times and lost 3 super bowls before winning two of them. Jordan, can't disagree there. Some guys just have that "it". Vince Young single handedly beat Ohio State, Oklahoma State and USC. He took over those games in a way that only the transcendent athletes of our generation have done. I don't know how that will translate to the pros, but I sure as hell enjoyed watching him in college. Elway single handedly beat Cal to bring Stanford to their first bowl in years.....oh, wait...what's this...
  19. I'm surprised they aren't bigger dogs and fully expect Arkasas to win :(
  20. That is just sick. I am scared to think of what Zito might get. It might become Hampton Part Duex. it's really not that bad. league average FA pitchers have been getting 8-10M for three years now, so in this market, not bad at all.
  21. not that I mind, but why on earth would the Cardinals do this without letting the next two years play out?
  22. it's there again. probably a done deal.
  23. There goes one option. he's who I wanted of the not-Schmidt set. second time around the scroll didn't say anything, but I am 100% positive it said it a few minutes ago.
  24. three year contract. sorry if already posted.
