  1. The Strike Zone Channel is frakking great.
  2. Congratulations. Looks like we all got what we wanted in the end.
  3. A hybrid of old and new Wrigley on the same site would be tremendous, but I think it's likely that they'd just completely F it up by going to the suburbs.
  4. Whatever Reinsdorf charged would be easily and quicky recouped from the revenues from a new and improved Wrigley Field. The Cubs would be dealing with Daley when trying to rent the Cell, which is probably worse than dealing with Jerry.
  5. I'm not sure what's more insane — the Reds' hold on Charlotte, or the Marlins' claim on Mobile.
  6. And that's just crazy. Anyhow, for everyone's entertainment, I'll post the MLB territories here as well. http://www.maurybrown.com/images/MLBTerritories.jpg
  7. Here are the MLB territories. Have a good laugh. http://www.maurybrown.com/images/MLBTerritories.jpg
  8. The Cardinals rearranged their viewing territory, taking counties away from DirecTV and giving them to Mediacom in exchange for a sweeter deal. In this case, it's cable that's "evil."
  9. There's alot of silliness in that article (he completely ignores the benefits of Wrigley's intimacy and upper deck design) but he's right IMHO on the above counts.
  10. He almost single-handedly forced the strike in 1994. He has been tight with Selig for years, and even though his influence has waned somewhat recently, I think he could probably stop Cuban — especially if he's faced with having him in Chicago.
  11. And the park is now in the hands of a real estate magnate who makes money in his sleep and hates the Cubs. It ain't good.
  12. The blackout restrictions are derived from a patchwork team territories map based on the lay of the land in 1977. They are ridiculous and outdated, but Selig did not father them. I've been over the strike since November 1994. Bud can cash in all he wants.
  13. The continuation of Cubs baseball at Wrigley Field is my primary concern in all of this, and I think she's as good as gone. Unless we get a new ownership that loves Wrigley like the new Red Sox people loved Fenway, these complications — being sold seperately, the neighborhood stuff/landmark status and the raw land value — will be too much to overcome. Fenway was all but leveled at one point, but was saved from the Yawkey Trust's ignorance. I suppose it could happen again, but I'm not counting on it.
  14. Navy is the way to go, definitely.
  15. I thought the mid-'90s interpretation was the best of all. It, like the "Cuba" script, lasted all of three seasons. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y225/southfork76/simg_t_tfsccbfpmedjpg110.jpg
  16. LA billionaires study Tribune options
  17. You beat me to it.
  18. It's too wonderful. Sometimes it's hard for me to choose which game to watch. I used to do this "manually" with one game on the tube via DirecTV, and three from mlb.tv on a bank of computer monitors to my right. This is much better.
  19. I like your blue shirt better than the one the Cubs were using. Trim helps out alot, though I'm not a fan of the walking Cub logo.
  20. The Yankee uniforms are "GOOD" simple. The Cubs' alternate jerseys screamed "CHEAP" simple.
  21. I would like them if they featured the details of those shirts. The latest edition had no trim whatsoever, and bland logos (the walking Cub and NL crest don't cut it.)
  22. There's a reason why the club insisted that the blues be shelved on Opening Day, for the All-Star Game and when Daryl Kile passed — they looked like trash. They'll be back, though.
  23. This is great.
  24. One could argue that the WGN Superstation's entertainment lineup serves only to keep the lights on between ballgames. If not for the acquisition of "Scrubs," "24" and "Sex and the City," I would argue just that. The latter three programs show that somebody's trying. Everything else is just a step above paid programming.
  25. "You" meaning "everyfreakingbody."
