  1. Time to avenge the Sutcliffe-Baines debacle from '89.
  2. The "C" on the Reds' helmets is way too big.
  3. He's one of several stand-ins cleverly mixed among MLB regulars.
  4. If they're determined to waste my time with movie stars and do-gooders, then get started at 7:00 EST. World Series games are well underway at this point.
  5. Glad that The Boss was able to go out on top.
  6. Seats would be farther away and more expensive - greed and things as innocuous as ADA regs will ensure that. Ignorant people whine and cry about support columns, so do away with those - and do away with the fantastic upper deck and cover from the weather. The big-dollar ticket holders don't want to mix with the unwashed masses, so a crowd control moat will run from foul pole to foul pole, just like the abominable new Yankee Stadium. For these reasons and a million more, the "best architects in the world" won't be allowed to build a better Wrigley.
  7. TV on, Berman muted, ESPN Radio with the call. I'm ready.
  8. The blue tops look ridiculous. Just an aside.
  9. Just Lou doing his best to see that we stay at 9.5 back through the break.
  10. Sandberg to be interviewed after the break.
  11. I was thinking this morning that we could go into the break just 6.5 behind St. Louis. It was nice.
  12. Yeah, screw the only marketable asset this club has.
  13. Texas paid a price to make a statement for the benefit a football-deluded populace. They have been locally irrelevant for almost their entire existence. I applaud the Rangers' management for at least trying to change that.
  14. It's Mrs. Jim Hendry, ladies and gentlemen! Who else could conjure such nonsense in defense of ridiculously inept management?
  15. Soriano said we had a good 10-game streak in the offing - might as well be now.
  16. Ueberroth left the '84 NLCS alone, but did state that the Cubs would get home games 3, 4 and 5 at Wrigley were they to advance to the Series instead of 1, 2, 6 and 7 as was planned for the NL that season. Before the '85 season, he declared that no postseason games would be played at Wrigley until lights were added.
