  1. Fat ass pitchers who come to camp overweight and then have pulled muscles that never heal because they are out of shape.
  2. The Hammond Bears just doesn't have the same ring to it. They are following the money like all good late-stage capitalists. We are in for so much pain. I feel so bad for my kids. I saw a thing about millennials Born after 9/11 Enter college when expenses are out of the middle class ability to pay enter the job market during COVID Enter the housing market during a housing crisis By mid career their jobs will be taken by AI By retiremient there will be no Social Security All so millionaires and billionaires can have it all.
  3. Exceptions to rule doesn’t make a rule. That’s just dumb ass luck.
  4. In the article, he said he feels more comfortable with the change, and the sinker is brand new, never used in a game. It's almost impossible to be an MLB starter with a two-pitch arsenal, so that is a great development. Wicks worked on mechanical processes and adjusted his grip to achieve greater sink. But his real problem is the same as Assad, they are bad-bodied pitchers who lack conditioning to make it through a full season. If he can't stay healthy and in the rotation, he's going to be a relief pitcher. This is his last chance at starting, and he should be a trade candidate this season. I don't know the rules of MLB, but I don't understand why the Cubs don't invest in offseason programs for these guys. And by that I mean don't give them a to-do list. Get them a team of nutritionists and biomechanists, and keep them in Arizona for at least part of the offseason to monitor and manage them. Same with Mo. There is no reason he should come to ST grossly overweight.
  5. Solid B for me. I don't give + and -. Those are for sucks. The Dodgers definitely get an A - They got one of the best closers and one of the best hitters Mets definitely get an A I think the Pirates and Reds had a really good offseason, solid B for them. I think the Yankees, Red Sox, White Sox, and Cardinals (on purpose) had terrible offseasons. Since there are not that many ST games on the radio or TV, I can hardly wait for the season to start.
  6. A- and B+ are the same grade for anyone wondering.
  7. Does anyone know what the data looks like for the minors?
  8. I'd say he's about to be indicted, so...
  9. I wonder what the holdup is. I imagine since they fired everyone, it's probably a delay in processing the request.
  10. Did anybody else see the horrible leg break of that kid from BYU as he was rounding the bases after his HR?
  11. What will happen to Soldiers Field?
  12. I think our boy Kyle Hendricks was one of the best at that. He had so many different speeds to his change-up. Late-career Maddux was great, too.
  13. Big Mo and Assad are not in camp yet due to Visa problems. I was hoping we'd get a shot of slimmed-down young men.
  14. I don’t know why, but I enjoy the winter games much more than the summer games outside of figure skating.
  15. Where is Hartshorn likely to start the season, Arizona? I have tremendous hope for him.
  16. Can they do that unilaterally or do they need to negotiate it as part of the CBA? I'd really hate it. I'm sure Tom has a 5,000 word post on it somewhere.
  17. I'd put PCA and Jim Edmonds in there, too. I was at a game in Yankee Stadium when Edmonds played for the Angels in 1997, and he made the most amazing catch I've ever seen in person. PCA is different; he's so smooth and anticipatory that he makes hard catches look easy.
  18. Someone probably turned off his wifi or made it a local network so he could vent racist horsefeathers and no one else would see it. He still said something about the halftime show and kickoff rule before the game.
  19. If I'm not mistaken, he'd be the only Black (American) player on the roster. I love him and he's pretty salty about being dumped by the Pirates, so why not?
  20. Hi, my name is Steve. I’m a White Sox and Padres fan. I’m here to party. I’m really into 18th Century French monetary policy vis a via the Knights Templar and Huguenot expulsion.
  21. Mo's biggest concern is power. He's big, but not big. I honestly see him as a poor man's Tony Gwynn. It would be nice if they could get him a nutritionist and chef and see if they could take 30-40 pounds off.
  22. Suarez is a ticking time bomb of a bad contract. When he's hot, he hits HR by the bunches, but his peaks are going to be lower and his valleys longer moving forward. He'd drive us all crazy.
