  1. If Aramis leaves, then they should back the truck up and sell, sell, sell. Not becuase Aramis is that good but becuase he's all the Cubs have besides Lee and third base is a terribly hard position to fill. As I wrote in another thread. Losing Aramis would set off a cascade of bad trades. This is just one example.
  2. Two bad things would come from that deal 1. The Cubs would get much older and more expensive But worse, 2. The Cubs would be much worse The Cubs simply cannot let Rameriz walk.
  3. Morgan should win this one going away.
  4. Obviously we don't know the story. However, if I were Prior I'd be seriously upest witht the Cubs front office. He's been mishandled, suffered from freakish injuries, and then got seriously ill during the offseason. And then the Cubs insinuated that he is "soft". All this in his first three years of full time big league pitching. Maybe the Cubs are cursed. But the curse has nothing do with the starts, billygoats, or black cats. It has to do with a piss poor organization.
  5. Who says he doesn't have to? He does. Aramis is more important to the Cubs than any other team I can think of. If he is gone they will have one legitmate power hitter in the line up. Add in the fact that they will also have to replace a position in which there isn't a whole lot of talent avaliable. Losing Aramis could set up a cascade of bad trades in an effort to replace him. Aramis has to be resigned even if it costs the Cubs. Aramis deserves a big contract.
  6. http://www.webmd.com/hw/health_guide_atoz/sts15103.asp?navbar=hw232188 I wouldn't play football again, but that is me. Accroding to webmd "The spleen is a useful but nonessential organ." Whatever that means. Paging Dr. Cub, Dr. Cub.
  7. There probably are any number of managers that would manage exactly the way Baker has. After all Baker played The Game and is a baseball lifer, that seems to be a prerequisit for the position. But truely, I don't think a manager matters that much, maybe a handfull of wins over the course of the season. If a team is close it matter much more. I think Girardi managed the Marlins out of the playoffs, for example. Baker is/was bad, but I don't think he could have got much more out that assembled team then he got. It was bad at the end of 05 and was worse at the start of Spring Training. From what I've ssen of Girardi, I don't want him managing the Cubs next year. Nevertheless, until the front office decides that their philosophy de jour is not the right one it could be a while until the Cubs are in contention. As always I hope for the best. Sometimes things just break right.
  8. On paper at least, I think your analysis is good. Most good teams get better as the season progresses. I expect ND will be better and they have some cream puffs on the schedule (on paper) going into the USC game. I think WVA will mop up the Big East, but let's face it, that doesn't mean they deserve to be in the title game. But then again, that's what makes college football so interesting and frustrating at the same time.
  9. I so wanted Nomar back this year.
  10. Both Ohio State and Michigan could lose this week. Minnesota always plays Michigan tough in the Dome and Iowa at home should make the game interesting. Go IUPUI er', I mean Perdue!
  11. I think the Cubs are going to have to be content to be the reverse NL Champion. That's quite an accomplishment in itself. I fully expect Hendry to look for the strong links and do his best to diminish them so next year the Cubs can get all the way to the bottom.
  12. Yes, but you also have to play to the weather too. I think the go-for on 4th down was a bad call by Weiss. TD MSU.
  13. Well written. He wants to play 2nd his defense isn't that bad. The only thing I really worry about is his age in relation to his contract demands. A 35 year old Soriano making 10 mill isn't that appealing.
  14. I think ND has a problem in their defensive scheme. They were exposed by Michigan last week and MSU is following through. However, I really believe Weiss is the best offensive coach in college football. He just doesn't have the talent. Their O line is getting hammered off the snap.
  15. ND's secondary is getting whipped like a preacher's daughter late for cerfew.
  16. At least it's not Tokyo.
  17. The Cubs HAVE TO resign Aramis. And they don't need to replace Murton. I love the Ginger Kid!
  18. That says it all. Was Hendry so loyal to Maddux that he just gave him away?
  19. Carr is such a moron. Luckily for him Michigan has so much talent it normally doesn't matter. If Carrol, Weiss, or Tressel coached Michigan they'd never lose.

The second article has absolutely no pro-slavery or even pro-racist connotations, despite its controversial title. No one is going to say somehting overtly racist in this day.
