  1. I'm no minor league expert, but I would say it will have no impact. Davis needs development time.
  2. Wrong answer. It's interesting...I don't remember Dutchvalue giving off douchy vibes like Joc pre-Cubs, but I don't think Joc had any hits in the 2 Dodgers playoff series that hurt even close to as much as Todd's 3 run double in Game 6 of the 2003 NLCS. In fact looking at the numbers he helped the Cubs, going a combined 5-26 (.491 OPS) with 2 extra base hits (both doubles), 1 RBI and a 39% K rate in the 2 series. Todd was actually pretty awesome for the Cubs in 2004 and was starting to play every day until he got hurt for the season in like June. In 2005 he came back and was terrible before being traded in August to the braves. To me the worst thing about Todd was that he was so bad with the Marlins in 03, they had to bring up a 20-year-old Miggy early and he helped them get them the WC and the rest is history. My memory is pretty fuzzy, but it seems like he was blocking some prospect from getting regular playing time while he was with the Cubs. Side note: Can you imagine any team trading a 25 year old with Miggy skills?
  3. Wrong answer.
  4. Cubs should sign him after Rizzo is gone.
  5. Sounds like Willy wants out.
  6. I think a lot of the Cubs draft strategy or the outcome to be more precise, had to do with where they were in the draft order and how much money they had to spend. In other words, if I'm drafting toward the last third in the first round in a draft year where the talent distribution is flatter and I don't have a lot of money to play with, I'm going to make picks similar to what the they did. I would call this a saftey draft for the Cubs.
  7. I wonder if he's related to the guy who claimed he was abducted by aliens? http://www.rileymartin.com/
  8. It appears that they are all spending like mid-market teams with the salary ca.. luxury tax [expletive].
  9. Maybe a left-handed Kyle Hendricks? Too much? https://www.minorleagueball.com/2017/10/12/16465106/prospect-retrospective-kyle-hendricks-rhp-chicago-cubs
  10. I hate double negatives. The tepid approvals are actually making me more optimistic. Even if he is a 3rd -5th starter, it saves the Cubs from giving contracts to washed-up veterans making way too much money... in theory.
  11. Wicks is having a really good interview on MLB on Serius/XM. Sounds really smart and well thought out.
  12. I’m going to parrot TT and say I like this pick. Rush him to the bigs in a year or two. I obviously know not what I’m talking about.
  13. Get him out of there.
  14. Jake is toast.
  15. Double and HBP, weeee!
  16. Jake off to a good start on the 2st pitch.
  17. Lots and lots of gambling go on at these places. John Daly has probably made more money playing skins on private courses than he made on the PGA Tour. I'm obviously speculating.
  18. They’ve pitched well enough to win all three of these games.
  19. Terrible AB by Heyward there. Just awful.
  20. For some reason, I don't have the visceral dislike for the Tribune people that I have for the Ricketts. Beyond team related reasons I think it's just easier to have a visceral reaction to the Ricketts for non baseball reasons. Is that it? Yes, that is probably a portion. But with this team going into the season everyone kind of knew this was the last season. Instead of trying to compete, they gave away their best pitcher and backup catcher to save some money. They waved the white flag before the season started. It's not something an ownership does that wants to win.
  21. Really? This is like the 10th or 11th best season of my 40 year life. Don't even try to pretend like some of those early 90s Tribune owned teams were any fun beyond 2 or 3 players. Just a week ago they were 10 games over 500.The rosters we played with on the video games of the era were unimaginably dull. But this also reminds me of warning people about wanting some billionaire to buy the club. They aren't saviors and when things suck they still suck. Although this year's .519 W% is tied for 14th best with 3 or 4 other seasons in the past 40 years. For some reason, I don't have the visceral dislike for the Tribune people that I have for the Ricketts.
