Ouch. Sounds like Rizzo's hinting that the guys were unhappy as well. Hoyer made the right decision, IMO, but Hoyer might've been better off not saying anything. Hoyer would have been better off saying they tried to come to an agreement but the sides were too far apart. How hard is it to say that instead of they never negotiated? Instead, he sounds like a prick and everyone's idea of a terrible boss. FWIW, I think they should have tried harder with Rizzo. Byrant probably was going to go to FA. Baez was great and I love watching him play, but I wouldn't sign him to an extension for what he's going to ask for.

I really want the Cubs to make a strong run Seager, with Turner now in LA I don't think they try to resign him. I don't know what other big market teams (if one believes the Cubs are a big market team) will be bidding on him though.

Man, that would be a nice development. At the major league level, Steele and Thompson have shown growth (along with Nance, Wisdom and Ortega). We've seen Jensen and Herz take steps forward in the minors along with a nice list of relievers. It'd be really nice to have 1 or 2 more upside arms do the same in the 2nd half. I'll settle for Carraway and Cam Sanders settling in and starting to shut guys down. Also, let's have Kohl Franklin show up, stay healthy and dominate, and Caleb Kilian keep doing what he's been doing in AA for the Smokies. Is that too much to ask...? Ortega is 30 years old. -
It will be interesting to see what the attendance looks like when they get back to Chicago.

Could his fall be due to clubs thinking there was something up with his arm? I don't know enough about the draft to have a strong opinion, but I don't like that the Mets will get the 10th pick back in next year's draft when they probably had an idea that something wasn't right or he wouldn't have been there. Maybe the Mets lowballed him with that knowledge so it was a low risk for them. Whatever, it's fishy.

The White Sox are just another team and in no way are a rival to the Cubs. That's [expletive] fan stuff. The main knock on Madrigal besides health is that people think he doesn't hit for enough power. My question, what 2nd does? Unless we find out who the other trade options were it's tough for me to criticize what they got for Kimbrel.
