  1. Team A wins the toss Team B chooses the 1 yard line Team A can choose whether to take the ball at their own 1 yard line OR have Team B start at their own 1. Rest of the game proceeds as normal. OK, thanks. I was definitely confused about that. It's still a terrible idea.
  2. The NCAA overtime rules should be established in the NFL. They create so much excitement and fun.
  3. That's a good looking swing.
  4. As a football observer more than a fan all I can say is Brady is an amazing player. He’s never had the strongest arm or been the most accurate passer, but he always finds a way to put his teams in a position to win.
  5. How does a person become such a monster?
  6. Apparently former Cubs pitcher Sergio Mitre for raping and killed his stepdaughter and has been sentenced to 40+ years in prison. Horrible story. https://www.nj.com/yankees/2022/01/former-yankees-pitcher-found-guilty-sentenced-for-despicable-rape-murder-of-infant-girl.html
  7. I'm going to take back my tepid "Frazier might not be so bad" post due to his age. I had no idea he was that old. The Bears don't need a head coach that old.
  8. Another hard pass for me, nope, nope, nope, I'm good with Daboll, Flores, Caldwell even McDaniels, Frazier would be a typical Bear mistake. He’s got to be a favorite for the job now, I keep seeing nuggets to that effect and it makes sense to me just from a Bears MO standpoint. I guess best case is Lovie Mach 2? I’d be very interested in whether he comes to the interview with a plan for OC or if it’s just “your defenses are awesome, we are the Bears, we love defense,” yada yada. I’m with you, it feels like typical Bears wrong-headed thinking to me. If they choose a defensive oriented HC, they have to nail it on the OC. I don't think it is necessarily a bad choice to go with Frazier but it makes the second decision even more important.
  9. Identity is an effect, not a cause. A lot of people get the direction of causality backward. It's kind of like the concept of self-esteem.
  10. He's probably the only one on the 2016 team with a shot at sniffing the HOF unless Bryant goes on a 5-year binge of MVP-level play.
  11. The plantation changed form, but that is changing now.
  12. The Sheriff is a n(bell tolls)…
  13. Yeah. That's what I'm taking from this. It's actually feasible. He's consulted with guys that know football. I'm sure he's spoken with plenty of other owners and gotten advice. Not saying he's an expert at this point, but he isn't any less qualified than Phillips to make decisions. Qualified to make decisions on a HC/GM hire, no probably not. Though I might give a slight edge to someone who worked their way to the spot rather than more or less inherit it. That's not a absolute guarantee of capability, but it prob means something. None of which is meant as a direct defense of Phillips. But resignation that there isn't really a choice for owner (though there's like 10 other kids they haven't tried out as chairman, not sure that matters lol) and either George alone or George and Ted is just basically rolling dice until you find the right person to lead football ops and neither is gonna directly cultivate that. Prove me wrong George. Don't only hire the right guy, actively support him in building out the best football org in football. Spearhead something and directly support the GM doing something useful in operations! I read something the other day saying that they had too few people doing too much work in the front office. It kind of reminds me of the Cubs stories when the Ricketts took over and let Theo hire people (of course they fired most of them).
  14. Not saying anything, but imagine being a Lions fan (I’m not).
  15. I would love a Grant Brisbee and whoever he chooses to be his sidekick "Manningcast".
  16. Instead they're gonna give him his own version of the Manning-cast with Michael Kay. I can't imagine how anybody thought this would be a good idea. He's literally the opposite of Manning in terms of likeability and being interesting on TV. I thought the Manning-cast was a stroke of genius by ESPN but now it just looks like they stumbled onto it by complete accident. I don't know how anyone could think that would be a good idea. Agreed. No one has ever thought A-Rod was likable since he was about 24.
  17. Was the coach Harbaugh?
  18. Probably a completely worthless thing to post, but for whatever it’s worth, my friend lives in Lake Forest and claims to have seen Pace today and said he was visibly angry. I'll take it! It's the equivalent of seeing Theo at Starbucks or whatever. I hope.
  19. yeah, not gonna lie, i'm not informed enough to understand how some of these companies you always hear operate at a loss can just continue to soldier on. others that come to mind are like the rideshare apps, sirius, xm, siriusxm Sirius/xm made almost a billion dollars last year. They have negative equity due to the costs of putting satellites in orbit, but it's a profitable company.
  20. Having a minor-major league is objectively bad on its face. It's not NCAA football. It really doesn't matter what the stakes are.
  21. They will not start the season on time. This isn't something that can be hammered out in a week due to both sides being so far apart unless one side capitulates.
  22. A mid season tournament would hold no meaning to me in the NBA or MLB. but it would for most people and it would grow in stature over time. Or it wouldn't. Baseball is not soccer or the NFL or NHL. It's like the world baseball classic, nobody gives a horsefeathers. Baseball is baseball. I don't mind organic changes brought on by new technology or information (i.e., shifting, spray charts, spin rates, analytics, etc.), but systemic changes (runner or second n extra innings, 7 inning double headers, mid-season tournaments, TT's minor-major leagues, etc.) I don't like so much.
  23. There is a squadron of Red Tail F-22 at Maxwell AFB in Montgomery. They look pretty cool.
  24. Isn't it sad that's a real possibility? I don't think it's a real possibility.
  25. It also gives the Ricketts and the rest of them reasons to not spend money to make a team great.
