He also threw two balls over his head today. im not justifying that all im saying is that while marmol is indeed stellar, Joba is special, hes a freak of nature, and im not biased, i hate the yanks, in fact i have recently realized i hate every baseball not named the cubs Baseballs have names? :lol:

In fairness to Angel, it was Yanks-Sawx. Had he thrown one more like that, we could have seen a brawl. But that would have allowed DiceK to break out the Karate Kick, so maybe Angel was being shortsighted

    Because it's the Cubs. They could be winning 50-2 right now, and you still wouldn't be comfortable. And it would be with good reason, if he's watched this team for any length of time. Here's a thought experiment: Imagine we were all on these boards, except we were watching and rooting for the Orioles during their game tonight. Would the server have crashed?

He's probably leaving now rather than the traditional end of the inning because he can't stand it, and honestly I feel for him. But not the rest of the team. If we can't win I would want the Crew to.     this is like the "marquis isn't so bad for a fifth starter argument." he has a remarkable ability to pitch so poorly that people's expectations go down and anything better than complete disaster is fine. he sucks. i think he meant it could have been worse. which fits exactly with what i was saying. so what you expected him to give up 8 or 9 runs today.... what are looking for. he gave up 5 runs in the first 2 innings then went scoreless in 3 1/3, which means it could have been worse... It's impossible to please abuck. it's impossible to please me by allowing 5 runs in 5 1/3 innings, yes. i'm also not pleased with a $100 mil that hovers around .500. sorry. fine I hear ya, but what does that have to do with the incredibly accurate comment that "it could have been worse" when it came to marquis game today? We're on track to lose, and a loss is a loss. So what if it could have been worse? We would just be losing by more.

    What is with this criticism of the negativity? How much do you want the Cubs to win? If watching this games Doesn't pain you to the core, I don't see how you can call yourself a true Cubs fan. There are a lot of people here who have every right to be very, very pissed off.

Optimists are obnoxious. Meanwhile, Marquis needs to hit the showers and the waiver wire fast. What does age have to do with anything? And realists? Are you kidding me? How many times has the season been over already? How many times have we seen the Cubs tank their playoff chances? How many times have we seen the Cubs tank even if they manage to make the playoffs? Losses=Tanks got it. I swear, rooting for this team feels like being run over by one sometimes. Look, if you prepare for the worst, as often happens with this club, good play is just awesome. If you expect them to do well, the inevitable collapse feels something like death. This was proven true during the Octobers of 2003 and 1984.
