  1. Apparently so. there was an easy hold call on the one where he threw the game-winning td too. That's the thing about Matt Ryan, he's very mobile and throws really well on the run, but he runs around so much that his offensive line almost has to hold. I guess if the refs are blind or don't like calling holding, then it works out okay, but if you run into a crew that calls the game by the book, it's gonna be trouble.
  2. btw i was out at the bar tonight and among the channels they had on was fsn pittsburgh, which was televising a western PA high school game. One of the players involved was terrelle pryor, the #1 recruit in the country. He's a beast. Come to Penn State plz.
  3. hey is holding still a penalty? apparently not when boston college is on offense.
  4. I think the poll was referring to 2007, not 2008. no that's how many games it will take next year for the cubs to be mathematically eliminated
  5. oh gee you think eyre is gonna exercise that option?
  6. Separated at Birth - college football edition!
  7. how about PENN STATE??? are YOU in? Nittany Lion Basketball: We have JuCo Transfers! Nittany Lion Basketball: Hey we play good teams like Illinois and Ohio State! Come see their talented players!
  8. how about PENN STATE??? are YOU in?
  9. I still think they should have taken Turris, that kid is a monster. He's ripping up the NCAA right now. The Coyotes have an absolutely stacked future. hard to say... van riemsdyk looks good too. I think Turris may end up being the better pure scorer while JVR has more of the power forward abilities.
  10. anyone from the st. louis area know much about pat maroon? He's a forward from the St. Louis area; apparently he played for former Blues tough guy Kelly Chase, and Chase called the Flyers and recommended Maroon during the 2006 NHL draft. They grabbed him in the 6th round. From what I understand, his stock slipped because he was fat and there were questions about his foot speed. Since then apparently he's gotten in good shape, and has been a monster on the ice for London in the WHL - 12 goals, 11 assists in 11 games. Plus he's not one of the little snipers who lights up the CHL and then can't cut it in the bigs - he's 6'4" and weighs 220 lbs. Some folks on a flyers board seem pretty excited about him and think we got a great late-round steal.
  11. holy cross, patriot league champs, picked to win the league again this year (though it will be close, having lost our two best players), and our most important players this year are tim clifford and alex vander baan
  12. flyers get a well-deserved loss tonight, getting outshot by the panthers 42-23 or something like that. A lot of the shots were from the outside, but still... gotta be better.
  13. Yup. Actually, it was over when the Red Sox won game 5 of the last series. You two couldn't be more wrong. This game means nothing to the Rockies. They're supposed to lose this game because Beckett is on the mound. Beckett is supposed to be doing exactly what he's in the middle of doing: shutting the Rockies down and winning the game. I think the key game for them is Game 2 and that if they can come out of Boston with a split, they'll be in good shape. Now, if they lose Game 2 and go back to Colorado down 2-0, then they'll be in trouble. But not right now. As long as Colorado wins one in Boston, they'll win this series. I don't see Boston being able to win in Coors. i don't see the rockies being able to win anywhere against the red sox. Play the series on the moon, the red sox will still win
  14. Have you seen this Red Sox lineup? Id look worried also lol someone (mike&mike or steve phillips) was saying that the Rockies' lineup is deeper than the Red Sox... I laughed. Show me how the Rocks can beat a 1-7 of pedroia, youk, ortiz, manny, lowell, varitek, drew. And Ellsbury in the 9-hole? No way the Rockies are as deep.
  15. Joe Buck: "Everyone always said 'well he plays in colorado', but Todd Helton is just as good a hitter on the road as he is at home." Career Home: .367/.465/.663 Career Away: .295/.394/.502
  16. i know nobody cares about the u.s. women's soccer team, but kudos to the president of u.s. soccer for firing greg ryan as coach. His decision to play scurry over solo was just terrible. I'm guessing that a lot of players wanted him gone.
  17. Go Penn State. not an easy game to pick. Penn State has only lost at home once in the last 3 years, but Ohio State hasn't lost a regular season game since losing here in 2005. But it's Anthony Morelli against a good defense - which means I'll probably pick the Buckeye$.
  18. the cubs need more obp everywhere in the order. Why do you think Mike Lowell led the Red Sox in RBI this year? Yeah he had an outstanding year, but it probably had something to do with hitting behind Youk/Pedroia (2), Ortiz (3), Manny (4) and Drew (5), all guys with an OBP above .370. When the middle of the order hitters get on base, they'll get knocked in too.
  19. I'm not going to deny that we are a college first state, but Jax is a small market with a huge stadium. Are we too small to deserve a team? maybe. when will pro sports learn? stop putting teams in florida. Baseball, hockey and football already have more teams than they should have there.
  20. there's only ONE rocktober
  21. I'm tempted to agree with my hockey nut friend and say Upshall should get a look at replacing Knuble on first line due to his speed and Knuble's lack thereof. That may be due to the fact I love Upshall... I like Upshall a lot too (what a sick return for forsberg... upshall, a future 2nd pairing stay-at-home defenseman in parent, and a first round pick), but Knuble is a good fit on the first line. He's probably a better natural scorer than Upshall, and while Briere and Gagne are more finesse players who will be on the perimeter, Knuble will be down low, setting screens and gobbling up rebounds. Upshall should do well on the 2nd line. Carter is coming into his own, and Hartnell should be a good player too - though he hasn't done much so far. I think my favorite player on the team is Mike Richards. He's leading the forwards in ice time, because he plays the point on the first power play unit and is also a top penalty killer. Good skater, plays smart, will drop the gloves with anybody to stick up for a teammate - even though it usually results in him getting beat up, because he's not a big guy. They've already made him an assistant captain, and he'll be the team captain at some point in the future. Provided the Flyers have room under the cap, I can see him being a less talented version of Bobby Clarke - a heart and soul guy who plays his whole career with the team. I also like Kukkonen a lot. He doesn't seem to do any one thing really well (except maybe block shots) but he's so solid defensively and hardly ever out of position. When the Flyers were clueless on D last year, he was the type of guy they were missing. I guess Jason Williams has been pretty good for the Blackhawks, but I'm surprised they let Kukkonen get away.
