  1. probably both. he needs to retire and give the #1 spot to GUS JOHNSON.
  2. sweet, holy cross hockey with a cameo on that commercial :D
  3. well my unc-ucla final is still looking good; unfortunately i think about 75% of the world picked this as their final game
  4. i was irate about that. a lot of people had long beach st beating tennessee in the first round (i told them that long beach state played nobody all year and got spanked by the good teams they did play), and i had tennessee beating ohio state in that game. i thought it was over at halftime, and they completely choked. (plus i was pissed that ohio state lucked their way into that game by beating xavier, in part because greg oden threw someone to the floor and it wasn't called a technical)
  5. another ucla opponent well on their way to 40 points.
  6. All the Vols need is a little momentum to get things going well. Tennessee plays a very emotional style and things tend to snowball one way or the other very quickly. i believe you meant to use the word "skyball" here
  7. don't know what pearl said during that break, but tennessee just looked about 100x better that last trip down the court. some behind the back dribbling, behind the back passes, quick ball movement. looks like they just loosened up in the last 2 minutes.
  8. bruce pearl looks like his head is about to explode
  9. man this game has been bad. louisville has turned it over 8 times in 9 minutes and still is up double digits. a lot more sloppy than i expected from these teams so far.
  10. murton had a SB and fontenot was CS today. looks like we have our answer.
  11. for some reason i love bill raftery but can't stand dick vitale. guess it kinda seems like raftery is just being himself and enjoying the game, but vitale seems too interested in self-promotion.
  12. see ya next year thuggie
  13. i generally don't like wvu just because the state is a complete waste, but thuggins coaching there makes it even easier to root against them.
  14. who is that random albino hick they keep showing on the wvu bench? these refs need to learn what a charge is.
  15. this must be great for cedeno, he can beat up on minor league pitching and do it in a chicago cubs uniform
  16. yeah but what happens when we take away the trampoline?
  17. same here. i'm 6'4" and can barely dunk a nerf ball. man i wish i had hops, i would be such a beast on the volleyball court. i mean, i'm pretty good as it is, but i could hit the ball down like the top flight players do... that'd be fun.
  18. i'm thinking that ronny will be hard-pressed to hit 40 doubles and 35 homers if allowed to play all year. call it a hunch.
  19. No, but it's not my fault that our manager is dumb enough to give our worst hitter the most ABs this year. i didn't say that. no, he just really, really, really sucked in 2006.
  20. two national league teams playing, and there's a dh?
  21. the cubs made the playoffs last year because they "caught the ball" and the brewers didn't.
  22. How much worse than a .672 OPS does he have to do to qualify as "completely tanks" i don't care about OPS. if theriot gets on base at .325 clip or so, that's all right. ronny's .271 obp in 2006 was not all right.
  23. probably not. am i the only one who is sick of hearing about ronny's "upside" without the caveat that he was horrendous for an entire year and is very unlikely to reach that upside? not nearly as sick as I am of hearing about how horrible Ronny is and how he can't hit ML pitching, without the caveat that he was 23 freaking years old. you say "23 freaking years old" like it's unheard of for a guy to come up at that age and perform well. i'd venture a guess that the average major leaguer breaks into the league around age 23. and i am still waiting for some examples of guys who have been truly horrible players for their entire first year of play, at age 22 through 24, and turned out to be above average major leaguers. Quick and dirty Rich Aurilla Michael Young. Using Cedeno's comparable players, you can add Davey Johnson, Jay Bell, Bill Spiers, and Eddie Taubensee to the list. well i said above average major leaguers, so you can remove bill spiers and eddie taubensee from the list.
  24. Most of these aren't great examples. Michael Young had a .700 OPS. So did Orlando Cabrera. Alex Gonzalez is kind of a weird example because he was pretty good in his first year, and then atrocious in his second year. Davey Johnson is probably a good example. i'm not saying i'm rooting against ronny becoming a decent player or hoping that he doesn't get a chance. at this point, given that the cubs are contending for a division, i'd rather go with the guy who is bad than the guy who might be a complete black hole. if ronny plays well from the backup spot, or theriot completely tanks, then i'm all for giving ronny another shot.
