  1. not a chance. terrible defensive first period sunk the caps in that game. that's their achilles heel. green isn't very good defensively and neither is jurcina. huet is average too. i thought we were the better team coming into the series and after outplaying washington for at least a period in the first game and then both of the last two games, i can't say my opinion has changed.
  2. blatant trip of knuble in the offensive zone and no call. i know the league wants ovechkin in as long as possible, but they're making it too obvious. penalty shot for richards. GOAL. eat it, craps.
  3. lawl, caps get a horse crap goal deflected in by a high stick.
  4. lol, ovechkin with a spectacular dive on the penalty at about 12:30 of the third.
  5. well it's my draft, so i can do what i think is best, even if it's not what will actually happen. i'm not convinced that alex smith will get back from his shoulder injury, and even though he's owed a lot of money, i don't see him being with SF much longer. shaun hill is a bum too. so, let's take a guy who i think will be a better than average nfl qb. 1 Miami Dolphins - Warpticon - Jake Long, OT, Michigan 2 St. Louis Rams - reggiemiller rules - Chris Long, DE, Virginia 3 Atlanta Falcons - The Golden Thunder - Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU 4 Oakland Raiders - soccer10k - Ryan Clady, OT, Boise St 5 Kansas City Chiefs - PingHitter - Sedrick Ellis, DT, USC 6 New York Jets - BHogg - Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas 7 New England Patriots (From 49ers) - GoCubsGo! - Vernon Gholston, DE, Ohio State 8 Baltimore Ravens - b_wiggy_66 - Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College 9 Cincinnati Bengals - Rocket - Keith Rivers, LB, USC (via proxy) 10 New Orleans Saints - OleMissCub - Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, CB, Tennessee St 11 Buffalo Bills - PingHitter - Leodis McKelvin, CB, Troy 12 Denver Broncos - MPC - Jeff Otah, OT, Pittsburgh 13 Carolina Panthers - Andy - Rashard Mendenhall, RB, Illinois 14 Chicago Bears - CaliforniaRaisin et al - Brandon Albert, OL, Virginia 15 Detroit Lions - Cubweiser - Derrick Harvey, DE, Florida 16 Arizona Cardinals - Flames24Rulz Michael Jenkins, CB, USF 17 Minnesota Vikings - PriorPower - Calais Campbell, DE, Miami 18 Houston Texans - Rawaction - Chris Williams, OT, Vanderbilt 19 Philadelphia Eagles - TruffleShuffle - Kenny Phillips, S, Miami (FL) 20 Tampa Bay Buccaneers - reds44 - Rawaction Jackson, WR, UC Berkeley 21 Washington Redskins - Handlebar McSkullet - Phillip Merling, DE, Clemson 22 Dallas Cowboys (From Browns) - vance_the_cubs_fan - Devin Thomas, WR, Michigan St 23 Pittsburgh Steelers - AI - Gosder Cherilus, OT, Boston College 24 Tennessee Titans - dew - James Hardy, WR, Indiana 25 Seattle Seahawks - mhuber92211 - Jonathan Stewart, RB, Oregon 26 Jacksonville Jaguars - Quentin Groves, DE, Auburn 27 San Diego Chargers - CaliforniaRaisin - Sam Baker, OT, USC 28 Dallas Cowboys - vance_the_cubs_fan - Aqib Talib, CB, Kansas 29 San Francisco 49ers (From Colts) - Brian Brohm, QB, Louisville 30 Green Bay Packers - Flames24Rulz - on the clock 31 New York Giants - jersey cubs fan
  6. make sure to PM the person who's drafting next, folks.
  7. hoo boy this one is tough. cano is good and tulo is very good, but utley is great. i guess it depends on what you're playing at shortstop right now.
  8. you guys are probably right about him turning into a slap hitter. the BABIP decrease and LD% decrease tend to support this, though it is a relatively small sample size. it's an interesting case, because most guys who have a problem making contact don't drastically improve on this weakness in their late 20s. i guess there is still some hope that he has shortened his swing and improved his ability to make contact, and then the next step is learning how to hit for a little more pop without going back to the too-long swing. i guess it wouldn't shock me if he ended up with numbers kinda in the vein of devon white, minus a few walks. hopefully he can do it, i always liked him.
  9. wow, soriano struck out almost 300 times last year? that's gotta be some sort of record.
  10. who is marcos mateo? any sort of prospect? i see he had pretty solid numbers last year as part of the reds organization, but he's 24 already. sounds like he should probably be in daytona or west tennessee right now. oh, and dae-eun rhee. if he keeps this up, he will not have a long stay in peoria. Well, he's old and he's repeating. All I know is the Cubs got him for Buck Coats and he's Juan Mateo's cousin. thanks. if he's ever going to become anything, it's probably time to start moving him along.
  11. You see it wrong. A player doesn't get experience hitting major league pitching in the minors. nor does a player who has always taken some time to adjust at higher levels learn how to adjust in the big leagues by staying at a level he's already proven he has mastered.
  12. this can't be right, corey patterson doesn't give a crap and is too stubborn to anything about the way he plays baseball.
  13. hey nhl, maybe it'd be a good idea to get off a network that is about channel 225 on my system, and features bull riding, fishing and hunting among its more attractive viewing options?
  14. petition to cancel game 4 in the ottawa-pittsburgh series and just allow pittsburgh into the second round. i can't believe ottawa mailed it in like they did since around january.
  15. yeah i didn't see any of regulation, but the wild are thoroughly outplaying the avalanche in OT.
  16. well that sinker and the solid control. and, derek lowe's career GB/FB rate is a ridiculous 3.33, which is very hard to do. if you don't have great stuff and you can't keep that ground ball rate down, you're going to give up too many line drives and home runs to be effective.
  17. who is marcos mateo? any sort of prospect? i see he had pretty solid numbers last year as part of the reds organization, but he's 24 already. sounds like he should probably be in daytona or west tennessee right now. oh, and dae-eun rhee. if he keeps this up, he will not have a long stay in peoria.
  18. maybe he meant in the sense that neifi is great compared to the average person. i mean, most people couldn't hit .025 in the majors, and neifi was a lot better than that.
  19. Five: 1) Joe DiMaggio 2) James Dean 3) Marlon Brando 4) Gene Kelly 5) Fred Astaire haha, i left off the first one. i guess the question was bogus, but i came up with four names and just stopped there because i assumed that those were the only four.
  20. least shocking news in history
  21. i'm a little surprised but not shocked. if i were a low (#1/2) seed in the west, the last thing i would want is to take on a team in western or central canada. those fans live for hockey, and no matter how big an underdog their team is, they go all out for their team. calgary, edmonton and (once upon a time) winnipeg were great places to play in the playoffs, but not for opposing teams. combine the intimidation factor of the saddledome with a very good goalie in kiprusoff, one of the game's best players in iginla, and a true #1 d-man in phaneuf, and you've got a tough matchup.
  22. well luckily the phillies did not have this attitude with mike schmidt, or he'd probably have been just another hot prospect who flopped rather than the greatest third baseman of all time.
  23. probably a lot of it has to do with the weather. scoring is down in the majors as well. in iowa and peoria especially, the weather has been damp and cold, which is good for pitchers.
