  1. barry bonds isn't changing his image, no matter who he signs with and how much that team wins. he's a dick and a primadonna. he's also one of the best players in history. a 43 year old baseball player is not about to change who he is.
  2. He admitted that he's used the green stuff. sounds like a perfect fit for the cowboys then
  3. that might've been how the play happened, but the wild were carrying the play in overtime and earned that win.
  4. uh yeah, the pirates never in a million years had a chance at getting david wright for kris benson.
  5. just a bit meh. i'll take 30 goals, 50 assists, better leadership, defense and checking, plus a 2nd pairing defenseman ($2.5M) over 35-40 goals and 80 assists. call it a matter of preference in terms of resource allocation.
  6. wow i really can't believe the reactions to that play. guys like holmstrom do this every game, theyre just less obnoxious and obvious about it. but you hear all these canadian talking heads saying they're embarrassed for the game of hockey, sean avery's family and the entire human race. give me a break. not just that play. he's still talking about brodeur's divorce, 5 years after it happened? avery's a scumbag.
  7. i'd like to see the cubs do more in terms of building a presence in latin america. good to see them mining the pacific rim, though.
  8. david wright was my pick. hits for average, draws a lot of walks, blossoming into a potential 40 home run threat and will give you 40+ doubles too. stole 34 bases last year. has been healthy for pretty much his entire professional career. is a little above average defensively. BP has him at a .315-.320 EqA from third base, where offense is hard to come by for many clubs, and considering his .338 EqA last season, I think BP's estimates may end up being on the low side. They project him to be worth anywhere from $24 to $27M a year over the next 7 years, which might be the highest multi-year MORP in baseball. in conclusion: david wright.
  9. btw, i hate the devils, but i am starting to think that sean avery might be the worst person on the face of the earth. what a douche.
  10. if this guy was on the cubs, i think he'd be my favorite player ever. i hate the mets, but i do admire how awesome david wright is at baseball.
  11. minnesota is down 4-0 and has officially gone from hockey mode into "send a message for the next game" mode. and between boogard, fedoruk and aaron voros, they have the guys to goon it up.
  12. for the record, it was a penalty, but kinda lame that ovechkin embellished it like that.
  13. Definitely injured. As we learned from Zambrano last year, a player's poor performances are obviously due to him being injured in some way or another.
  14. What's this all about? it's just fun to say that another team in our division is managed by dusty baker.
  15. btw, please keep referring to them as "dusty baker's reds" in the game thread titles... and everywhere for that matter
  16. i think someone asked why i don't trust wuertz in another thread. there's your reason.
  17. btw, mike richards should be a selke contender for many years. ovechkin has been playing a ridiculous number of minutes (25 a night) and hasn't been much of a factor in the series; richards has been matched up against him the whole time. call me a homer, but i'd take richards over crosby when you take salary, defense and leadership into account.
  18. do you have CSN? strangely enough, the flyers were blacked out here on CSN philly all year, and now they're on during the playoffs. they're also on versus, so after not being able to watch the flyers most of the year, now i can watch them every game, often on 2 channels. thanks gary buttman!
  19. yeah that had better be gerald perry's #1 project
  20. man i really want to beat dusty baker's reds
  21. when did jeff keppinger turn into honus wagner?
