if there's a next time, just have gore get down in a tiny crouch and hope that the pitcher or umpire are so flummoxed that he ends up drawing a walk. no swinging under any circumstances.
yeah, giving up an out to get gore to second and then subsequently needing a hit out of victor caratini (can't hit in general) or albert almora (can't hit RHP) was not really a masterclass in managing.
why not just put the slowest and most unathletic player on the bench in as pinch runner if you're just going to give up an out bunting them to second base? what a waste.
