  1. Seriously. Ryan Theriot hit a single yesterday. I want you to find me a quote from anyone that says that Ryan Theriot will never hit a single. I'll wait. Take all the time you need. Oh? Nobody has said that? Okay then. I just brought it up because the error and the "not getting the run in from third" was brought up by the angry, torch-and-pitchfork-wielding cedeno crowd.
  2. cust's performance last year was unsustainable given his strikeout rate of nearly 43% of his ABs. oakland is, i'm sure, smart enough to realize this.
  3. biron's most recent goal allowed has been brought to you by mister softee
  4. upshall got popped in the face two times by hamrlik twice and knocked to the ice both times. i'm pretty sure the refs aren't going to call a penalty on montreal unless someone pulls out a knife and stabs a flyer. oh well, that's the canadien home ice advantage. hey, komisarek drills upshall after the whistle yet again and i guess the refs had to call that one.
  5. really? i hadn't noticed. thanks for the tip.
  6. Get the pitchforks out. This year's Jacque Jones just made a mistake. Let the avalanche begin. didn't see much from the anti-theriot crowd after his game-winning rbi yesterday. plus, isn't it generally a good idea to try to hit the ball hard? that's what he did in the 8th inning; unfortunately it was a line drive right at helton and it was a dp.
  7. what's sad is that people will look at marquis' line and think he pitched a good game.
  8. you don't think pie is going to be distracted by a fan behind home plate calling him off?
  9. well i can see why we are moving marquis up to face our top competition in the division, he's really lights out
  10. too bad the nba couldn't convince one more team to give a star player away to the lakers. that would've given them pretty much an automatic place in the finals.
  11. you do know that soto's OPS is pushing 1.100 right now, don't you?
  12. yeah, he's done a great job of taking ABs away from votto, who's clearly the better player.
  13. what is this? BA/OBP/OPS? If the 750+ is slugging, that is completely insane.
  14. do i need to make the same post over and over? cedeno was the starting shortstop for an entire season; pie has been the starting center fielder for a maximum of three weeks. he hasn't had the extended chance at playing time that cedeno had in 2006.
  15. .353/.451/.618/1.069 is pretty solid for a catcher.
  16. this is a much better argument than pretty much anything else in this thread. kudos. there's actually another angle, but i don't have time to get into that right now.
  17. i'm actually a male. figured you would've picked up on that.
  18. He only played in 151 games that year... clearly not a full year. are you kidding? are we arguing that cedeno hasn't really had a real shot in the majors because he had a few days off in 2006? if that's the case, then theriot really didn't get a shot last year, so we should give him a full season in 2008 to prove that he's good enough. reading comprehension is really suffering in this country. first of all, i didn't say that i am convinced that cedeno is a bust, i just don't think he will be a good player. second, there is a difference of about 450 PAs between pie and cedeno, not 300. third, look at the usage patterns: Pie @ age 22: -started the season in the minors -called up to the big club, starter for 2 weeks -mainly a bench player for 1.5 weeks -farmed out to iowa for a month -called up to the big club, regular playing time, mainly starting, for 3 weeks -mainly a bench player for 2 weeks -farmed out for another month -called up for final 2 months, little to no playing time Pie @ age 23: -regular playing time for 4 games -spot starts and pinch hitting after that Cedeno @ age 22: -mainly and defensive replacements spot starts during a handful of call-ups Cedeno @ age 23: -started 90 percent of the games at shortstop for 6 months so one guy has had 450 more PAs and a season in which he's started 90% of the games; the other guy's longest stretch of consistent playing time was 3 weeks last season. how on earth can anyone think these situations are pretty much equal?
  19. cedeno would've let that liner bounce off his head and over the fence for a 3-run homer
  20. People suggest this because it is true. yeah you got me, i hate those lazy latin americans and i love me some gritty white guys It really doesn't sound like you apply the same standards to Cedeño as you do Pie. pie hasn't had a season as a full-time starter in the big leagues. Neither has Cedeno. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/gamelog?statsId=7527&year=2006

  22. soto didn't want kosuke getting too far ahead of him in the rookie of the year race.
