    wow, first event of the night and both phelps and lochte broke the world record... so sick! lochte has gotten really really good, but phelps is a machine. they were both nearly 8 seconds ahead of the third place finisher, and all you have to do is finish top two to make the olympic team, so they really didn't have any reason to blow it out like that. but they're just both hyper-competitive, and as long as lochte was going to go all out to win, phelps was going to do the same. this u.s. swim team should be amazing in beijing.

    i DVRed olympic trials in swimming... given that the cubs are crapping the bed and the game is being called by joe morgan, i'm putting that game on my second tv (muted) and watching some swimming

    there's no mystery about why they traded him. they already had young and upton, and it was either get rid of quentin or byrnes coming off a big year.

    Jim Hendry needs to send a tape of this weekend's series to the league office to have issues like this resolved because this has been awful umping all weekend. it's the same crap every year; sending tapes to the league office is never going to change anything.
