  1. well, at least the yankees getting eliminated by losing two home games to their hated rivals is a feelgood story of the postseason.
  2. i think half of new england horsefeathers their pants when that ball left the bat.
  3. looking at free agent classes two or more years down the road is a fool’s errand. yeah they often look really great, but once the top guys either re-sign with their clubs or get traded to a bigger market club which ends up giving them a long-term deal, that offseason rolls around and you find yourself giving $35 million to tyler chatwood.
  4. keep hiring red sox hitting coaches until one of them turns out to be good. fallback plan, skip the red sox hitting coaches and just steal their hitters instead. Savethe money on Bryce and pick up Mookie in 2 years, I'd be down for hiring Manny i would not hold your breath waiting for the red sox and their borderline unlimited payroll to start letting their elite young players walk out the door.
  5. yeah, they all got dickish and entitled. go back and do the hard work and realize that other teams are going after the same thing that you're going after. they acted like the division title was pre-ordained to go to the cubs.
  6. Manny. But seriously, Andy Barkett from Boston or Jeff Albert from Houston would be the leading candidates I'd want (I'd probably rank Albert 1st). keep hiring red sox hitting coaches until one of them turns out to be good. fallback plan, skip the red sox hitting coaches and just steal their hitters instead.
  7. That's why I've taken a huge step back from the Cubs after 2016. The fact that sports can do this to people is dumb. It's pure tribalism. Be happy for the Brewers if they go far. 2 reasons: Ryan Braun and Packers fans milwaukee is one of the most segregated cities in the country and people kept electing david clarke to be their sheriff so that he could neglect people to death in his prisons. it's just a lousy city. still might have a leg up on cincinnati though.
  8. I have nothing against them. I may actually root for them. Do it for Uecker. a number of their players are grade-a d-bags and the city of milwaukee, generally speaking, sucks.
  9. i'll always look back fondly on the month where david bote looked like a good major league baseball player.
  10. yep, i'm cool with it. pretty clear that they weren't going to do any damage in the playoffs, not with a patchwork bullpen and an offense that disappears for long stretches. hopefully harper is a cub next year and bryant gets healthy and back to playing like kris bryant. addison russell needs to go, don't really care for what.
  11. striking out 4 times in a row against a mediocre reliever would really be the perfect end to the 2018 cubs' season.
  12. we should start a pool on how soon after the game chili davis gets fired.
  13. this is probably better than watching the cubs lose three straight games of 2-0 or 3-1 to the brewers.
  14. like 2 hours ago i said why not bunt him. the slightest bit of luck or misplay and he's safe. if they have any sense they will probably have the first baseman and third baseman standing about 10 feet from home plate.
  15. hopefully they address the hitting in the offseason, mainly by teaching our players how to do it and possibly acquiring other players who already know how to do it.
  16. 3 up 3 down against chris rusin. hang your heads in shame.
  17. i feel like i'd probably take my chances with wilson getting past a backup catcher who can't hit and a backup first baseman.
  18. i remember chris rusin pitching for us during the dark years. he was..... not great.
  19. probably good idea to pitch around baez, since only 3 players on the cubs can hit, one batted last inning and the other has been removed for terrence gore.
