a real clusterf*** in peoria tonight. the chiefs won 12-10; they made 5 errors (hatley 2, vitters, lake, ridling) and their opponent made 6. there were also 2 wild pitches, 2 balks and a HBP. burke went 3-5 and a home run short of the cycle; vitters singled and that was it for him. flaherty hit a go-ahead 3-run homer in the 8th. huseby struck out the side to get the save. my home town state college spikes, the worst team in minor league baseball last year, had a solid start to this season, losing 15-2 to williamsport. their pitching and defense were horrendous last year; tonight they gave up 13 earned runs and made 4 errors. way to go, spikes. -
this, typed before the bottom of the 8th inning began, is quite impressive.

oh i watched some of the 8th inning and "strike 2" to blanco was comical. i mean, there was a bad called strike against theriot, but gameday has the blanco called strike a solid foot outside. -
wow i was hiking today and checked my phone for the time at around 5, and saw that i randomly had cell service (up in north-central PA there's almost no service anywhere). checked a couple of phone messages and then the cubs score, saw it was 7-1, assumed it was a loss. guess not!
