i'm gonna guess 14-12. it's moderately difficult with a lot of road games and lilly on the shelf, but not exactly a brutal gauntlet. -

there is zero chance this will work. some foreigners will get into it but like 3 americans will care. most people think soccer is too boring and a lot of people say baseball is too slow-paced. how will they react to a sport where games can take 5 days and individual batters are up for hours on end? no way.

The only way this isn't a break even at best trade for the Cards is if they re-sign DeRo, which I don't see happening. Mark will get a nice contract after this season, and the Cards will have their hands full re-signing Holliday (which I think they will). if those guys leave they'll recoup some of the loss in early draft picks.

BA rated the cards' minor league system at #8 before this season, but they're going to be right back down in the bottom third next year. rasmus (#1 on BA's list) has graduated, wallace (#2), perez (#3), todd (#4) and mortensen (#6) have been traded, motte (#8) graduates. bryan anderson (#5) has been terrible this year, daryl jones (#7) is hitting like a 4th/5th OF in the texas league, david freese (#9) is probably a utility guy more than a real major league 3B, kozma (#10) is young for the texas league but isn't hitting for crap. shelby miller was a nice pick, and obviously the additions of rasmus, motte, holliday and derosa to the big club have upgraded the talent there, but the cards' system is bad now.

Because we play in the worst division in baseball - that's how. We've actually got a better winning percentage against the NL East (.588) than the NL Central (.562). Obviously we've won more games against the Central, but we've handled the Eastern teams slightly better to this point. yeah, the NL central isn't that bad. the pirates are bad, the reds are pretty bad, but the other teams are average to a little above average. there just aren't any really good teams. the AL central (two teams that really suck, two average teams, one slightly above average team) is definitely worse.

my guess is that there was some frustration within the clubhouse due to the underachieving and the pressure to win. as lou has said on multiple occasions, winning creates good chemistry.

Between that and the Bradley at bat, he has changed this game. i don't care if you're going to ring up bradley on borderline pitches, but when guzman throws a strike that 6 inches inside the strike zone above the knees and inside corner, you'd sure as hell ring that up too.

terrible call.

Hard to blame him for that one. Had he swung he almost certainly would have missed. strikes 2 and 3 were borderline; i'm not going to get on the ump for calling them strikes.

almost perfect game through seven.

It seems like we are up by 30 though that's because our starter was awesome and dusty baker's reds have one positive offensive play the entire game. that can change.

not gonna lie, i'm pretty pissed off that this is a one-run ballgame.

fly out to the warning track, that way we can have 55 LOB and 25 fly outs to the track in the first 6 innings.

he threw 115 pitches last outing, and he doesn't exactly have the most resilient arm in the world.

between yesterday and today, the reds should have given up about 35 runs.

yeah but those are by far the two best teams in the NL. that might make you feel better about their chances in the playoffs, but you don't need to beat the phillies and LA to win the division.
