  1. while on vacation i met someone who told me a story about in 'n out. they're a vegetarian and ordered a veggie burger. they were given the sandwich with all the fixins, but no meat patty in the middle. :-))
  2. erik, you say this a lot, sarcastically, like it implies that there is a clutch. it would be nice if you would try to back this up with something other than your own worthless words. thanks. there is such a thing as clutch; however, it's generally a non-repeatable skill and to make future decisions based on it would be stupid.
  3. if we don't win this one it's safe to say the season is over.
  4. i'm becoming a big fan of jeffry antigua.
  5. geovany soto. i don't see any reason to advance kirk to boise this year; he's a high school senior making his first appearance in pro ball.
  6. that must be a really good slider with the K rate that he's got.
  7. on vacation but i just thought i'd stop in to say that dusty baker's reds really suck.
  8. blue jays will demand a king's ransom to trade him within the division.
  9. tom gorzelanny? that has to be a joke. the worst team in our division is keeping him at AAA; what use would we have for him? rhodes apparently sucks a lot less than i thought he did.
  10. a .247 BABIP will do wonders for one's performance.
  11. well the guys who succeed at the major league level and use up their rookie eligibility won't be ranked in BA next year. but i think castro and cashner have taken significant leaps forward, as have several guys on the boise cubs (lee, watkins, antigua). welington castillo's rank will take a hit and dae-eun rhee might as well (seems to be slow coming back from TJS), but my impression is that the cubs' system should be ranked several spots higher next year. and i'm no kool-aid drinker about the quality of their system; last year i thought it was God-awful.
  12. if he's a lefty with command, good sink and a sweeping breaking ball, at the very least you have yourself a prime LOOGY candidate.
  13. that is someone who has drank wayyyyyyyy too much of the kool aid.
  14. After the Dodgers series it will be 3. It's in St. Louis. guess i should've checked that... brain fart.
  15. signed out of the dominican in october 2006, pitched in DSL in 2007 (i assume), AZL in 2008, now northwest league. Ahh didnt realize he was a Dominican sign. Im assuming hard thrower? from our minor league wiki: that was taken from an article by azphil, who said antigua looked like one of the best latin prospects at extended spring training last season. it'd be nice to know how hard he throws. listening to the game, it sounded like he had a pretty sharp breaking ball that was giving eugene hitters a lot of problems.
  16. signed out of the dominican in october 2006, pitched in DSL in 2007 (i assume), AZL in 2008, now northwest league.
  17. 4.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 11 K  boise's announcer saying that rich hill is the only hawk he can remember throwing double-digit K's in a game.
  18. Besides all the Cardinal fans - I kinda like it here. i thought it was really boring there.
  19. This is true, which is why I think it could screw the Cards if he leaves. It's apparent re-signing him is going to be a priority, and even if he does leave, it will likely drag on until January. It could be much like the Houston/Beltran situation a few years ago. the cards are in pretty good shape next year money-wise: pujols 16M carp 14.5M lohse 8.875M molina 4.25M wainwright 4.65M franklin 2.75M (option but obviously will be exercised) reyes 2M that's 53M in commitments. glaus and greene (bad contracts) are off the books. pineiro's contract is up; he might be pricing himself out of their range (sorry dave duncan, looks like you might be TOO good at your job). rasmus will be back in CF for free. ankiel is almost certainly gone. ludwick is due a nice raise in arbitration. i think they can compete for holliday with the red sox/yanks if they're going after him, but i don't think they can keep holliday and ludwick long term. derosa will probably do something like 2 years, 16M - nobody will go real long term with him but he can cash in and get a nice raise from what he's been making the last 3 years.
  20. jeff antigua in 3.2 innings of relief work - 2 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 9 K.
  21. split with houston would be a bad result - wandy's not that great on the road, dempster-oswalt is a good matchup, hampton and ortiz both suck, their best hitter is on the DL. on the other hand, a split in LA would be a very good result.
  22. maybe they're on suicide watch because they just realized that they live in st. louis, and it sucks.
  23. or they realize that they're in a really hard section of their schedule (back to back road series against the two best teams in the NL) and the cubs are playing the crappy reds followed by the astros without their best player. note that the cardinals have played 7 fewer home games than road games; after the dodger series it will be 11. the cubs need to keep gaining ground on the cards because things do get easier for them later in the year.
