  1. Yeah it feels like he's going into one of those two week slumps where he strikes out in half his at bats and looks generally clueless. .

  3. this pitcher is not good. dong him into oblivion.
  4. so where does bryant have left to play now? 2b, c and p?
  5. i liked it better when russell was hitting more.
  6. it's pretty impressive how many games the cubs have won considering that for much of the season they've been using a 23 man roster (richard and federowicz don't count as actual baseball players)
  7. Well I mean there's also the whole "not scoring any runs" thing that he has no control over THAT'S JOE'S FAULT TOO
  8. so he doesn't get lefties out and doesn't get righties out. sounds like DFA to me!
  9. there aren't many players on this team who i am looking forward to not being cubs any more. clayton richard is one of them.
  10. hendricks smiling is as infrequent as seeing ted lilly without the dull-eyed stare of a mass murderer.
  11. i don't see contreras taking much part in this year's team, unless there are injuries. maybe as a pinch hitter after rosters expand. a more interesting discussion is what happens next year, since contreras will almost certainly be ready but montero still has one year on his contract at $14m. do they try to trade montero and eat a little of his contract? keep him as a high-priced backup and insurance policy?
  12. quite a difference from last week when people were melting down after dropping the first game of the series to the cards.
  13. i'm about ready for the tim federowitz era to be over.
  14. if it makes puig feel better, he should've been rung up on the third pitch he saw. [tweet] [/tweet]
  15. sandberg is now that guy who has lived an interesting life and has plenty of good stories to tell, but now he's just talking about his boring grandkids instead.
  16. i sure hope it's not any of those sadsacks in the iowa cubs' rotation.
  17. in 2012 we didn't win our 34th game until halfway through july.
  18. also, those south bend unis look like something you'd see rednecks wearing (and buying) at walmart.
  19. [bbvideo=560,315] [/bbvideo] home run is around the 1:00 mark. LF's reaction is hilarious (he lost the ball in the lights or in the sky, put his hands out to show that he lost it, meanwhile the ball is sailing well over the fence). jimenez is a big dude for a 19 year old.
  20. and yet that is one of the least-bad things that alfredo simon has done on or off the diamond.
  21. white sox lose. they blew leads of: 5-1 in the 6th inning 7-1 in the 9th inning 4-2 in the 8th inning to get swept in this series.
  22. hawk is on suicide watch. we're all pulling for him.... to go through with it.
