    i wouldn't really mind if he sucks and gets sent down relatively soon because i think he still has things to work on at the minor league level. pie was a different situation because he beat up AAA pitching every time he was down there; what he needed was a manager who wasn't a spaz and would stick with a young guy who struggles for more than three games.

    i agree with you on both counts. i think the cubs will keep him around - let's hope if they do that it's something like a 2-year deal, not 4 or 5... maybe they've seen the soriano of their ways. but he'd be useful to a team at the trade deadline, either a contending NL team with an unproductive or injured 1B, or AL teams with similar problems at either 1B or DH. teams like the braves, dodgers, mets (probably won't be contending), a's, giants, mariners and rangers could be interested in him as a rental.

    Not completely untradable, but his no trade rights make it virtually so. ](*,) forgot about that. while we're on the subject, what do y'all think will happen with lee after this season? i don't know if resigning a player his age is a great move, but there isn't a logical in-house replacement at this point.

    jason motte just gave up a walkoff to jonny gomes. it's still fun to root against the cards, even if we blow.

    4 way tie at -5 between watson, mickelson, lee westwood and y.e. yang i just saw some guy chip in from the sand trap... that's not that notable, but the fact that he was wearing a button-down shirt and tie is kinda weird.

    i'm excited about the minor league system and players like castro, the jacksons, cashner, hak-ju lee and kyler burke. i guess that counts as this season, right?

    You know, I know you're trying to mock me (and failing, I might add), but does it occur to you that you're making yourself look like a bigger idiot than I ever have? Just an FYI. i beg to differ. NSBB is hilarious sometimes. A vaild (yet tired) point is posted, and it's then quoted out of context by people who think they're witty but really just make themselves looking worse than the people they're attempting to mock. i'm just disagreeing that he is making himself look stupider than you ever have on this board.

    I'm pretty sure he called Maddux a cheater. he didn't say it explicitly but he insinuated that there was a player on the cubs that had cheated for a long time, and there's little question that he was referring to maddux.
