  1. It was VERY prominent in the 8th yesterday. Went around like 4 times. I was disgusted. i can sort of tolerate it on days like today where the game is a blowout and everyone is just kind of waiting around for it to end. yesterday people were doing it with a tie score and the cubs loading the bases. everyone participating should have been thrown out.
  2. tom gorzelanny, overpowering strikeout artist? who knew.
  3. it's so hard to tell with him because when he's on he hits the ball really well, and when he's cold he can't hit a beach ball. he was lousy early on but for the last 2-3 weeks he's been really hot. at some point he'll go ice cold; last year there was just a lot more of the cold than the hot. hopefully this year it's more like 2007-08.
  4. last AA start (against altoona) isn't going so well: 4 runs allowed in the second inning.
  5. starting pitchers are done, with mostly good results: jay jax: 6.0 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 4 K, 2 HR, 2 GO/10 FO cashner: 6.0 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 3 BB, 5 K, 6 GO/5 FO, 97 pitches/57 strikes dolis: 4.1 IP, 4 H, 5 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 2 K, 8 GO/3 FO (shafer: 2.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K, 2 GO/3 FO - been very good in long relief this year) antigua: 6.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 6 K, 1 HBP, 6 GO/4 FO
  6. hawks are leaving too many people open in good scoring position
  7. http://www.thedailyrash.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/bagdad_bob_large.gif The Cubs look to make it three in a row and a series win on Sunday as they face the D-backs. The starters will be Jackson (28.1 IP, 36 H, 21 R, 21 ER, 3 HR, 9 BB, 17 K, 6.67 ERA, 1.588 WHIP, .344 BABIP, 17.2 LD%) versus Gorzelanny (22.0 IP, 16 H, 9 R, 6 ER, 0 HR, 7 BB, 17 K, 2.45 ERA, 1.045 WHIP, .262 BABIP, 17.6 LD%) http://weblogs.wgntv.com/news/wgn-news-blog/young%20michael.jpg vs http://www.todaysretard.com/images/2008/05/12/2333773654_0dff790615_2.jpg We here at the NSBB Doppler 4000 Severe Weather Center® are looking for partly sunny skies and highs near 70, with a light breeze blowing from LF to RF. Go Cubs!
  8. man that was just a terrible rebound. you can't let a bad angle shot from the boards turn into a slapshot between the circles.
  9. people who do the wave should be automatically ejected from the ballpark, unless the score is like 10-2 and everyone is bored.
  10. i'm half hoping that lee just stands there and doesn't swing
  11. It's absurdly irrational to have a bad feeling about him in a tie game but not with a lead. cubs score run - marmol lights out cubs don't score run - marmol gives up runs absurdly irrational sounds like the right phrase here.
  12. OH WELL frankly if we win a game in this series i will be happy. it's pretty clear that the three worst teams left are in the East.
  13. there have been about 15 scoring chances in the first 5 minutes of OT... bruins basically spent the first 2 minutes peppering boucher and then the flyers had an odd man rush, a breakaway and a point shot off the post.
  14. how about another extra base hit, this time with runners on base
  15. someone from our team hit the ball over the fence
  16. i wouldn't say their front office is a mess... i like what neal huntington is doing there and they seem to be focusing more on player development. obviously it was a disaster when they had littlefield but their new regime is okay, at least i think it is.
  17. well i guess if you're going to swing at bad pitches mineaswell bloop them into right field
  18. silva's command was lousy all day. 60 strikes, 41 balls isn't good enough for him, and 3 walks in 5 innings is a lot worse than normal. obviously with his mediocre stuff he can't be missing his spots like he did today.
  19. yeah well if our players could somehow be persuaded to hit the ball and immediately run fast we could have scored some more runs that inning.
